Novelty value

GT3 never wore off, not once. First M3 was epic, second M3 was "why did I buy another again?". TVR Griffith was ace for the first week then it started to annoy and the 22B I ran for a while was epic fun but cheap feeling and rattly. Most BM's I had were fine but not that stimulating and the RS4 goes from epic to bobbins by the hour. Most fun for the money was probably the 106 GTi when it first came out, epic little car and a delight when I took it up into the Scottish hills and twisties, not much would have put more of a smile on your face. My first brand new car, a 1.6 Cavalier L was awful after the newness had worn off, always shy of an apex and simply terrible when pushed loosing any composure it had when parked.

Worst car ever......Vauxhall Belmont in green, just awful.

My first car, a 1.2 Clio Dynamique, the novelty didn't wear off for a while until I started to do longer more regular trips. This was mainly due to it being my first car and enjoying throwing it round the twisties. After that I had 1.9TDi Fabia, novelty wore off quickly after getting over mid range turbo power, and the owners club which seemed to think it was some kind of rocket ship.

The MX5 I haven't had long and the novelty is most certainly still there despite being a daily, gone back to throwing my car round the twisties. :p

Car was nothing special to begin with, but plenty quicker than my old Rover. The novelty wore off when it broke a month later lol.

how bad was it?

2 days after buying it there was an electrical fault which caused the battery to drain overnight and from then on it was problem after problem.

Some mechanical issues (thermostat etc) but mostly electrical and interior. Although the drivers door handle button got stuck regularly so the door wouldnt close and the rear nearside handle came clean off.

The worst thing was it's passion for oil (a litre a week if i used it daily) and fuel (12mpg driving like a saint, 8 if I drove it like an alfa should be - never figured that one out). This was a 51 reg car with 50k miles on it too...

Still, I loved it and would have kept it/fixed the fuel consumption if I could have afforded it. But at the time I had just been offered a new job on enough money to buy my own place - couldnt even consider owning a flat and paying for a car like that.

that is shocking. i dont understand alfas, i dont understand

the vision i get in my head when i think of alfas is badly made cars, not sporty cars

They're cars that are made to be driven. Mine was a 2.5V6 so it went and handled very nicely indeed.

Its a cliche but its true - until you own one you'll never understand.

haha ive never even driven one. i cant ever imagine (after hearing such horror stories) that a car driving well would make up for such massive shortfalls in build quality

Its a bit of a lottery tbh, there's a lot of people who havent had many problems and the new ones are meant to be a lot better too.

I cant explain it though, although I was either grinning or crying when I owned that car

novelty of my clio 16v hasnt worn off yet, even after being off the road for a while!

the new 172 engine and williams suspension just make it even more fun! :D

had my car 8 month and still love it, i love the look of the front of mine aswell! civic lovers like it to, loads of compliments to!

only thing is i want more power now! put it up for PX and had well over 30+ offers but just cant bring my self round to swapping it :( think its because its my first car haha

least i know i can get rid of it very easly when i want to :)

Motorway overtaking novelty = non existant :p

But 2nd and 3rd gear on windy roads novelty replenishes itself every other week :D

Still....I need more!

Had the car 2 years. Still finding new ways to enjoy abusing its handing ability to induce a grin on my face.

Wear and tear plus Crayola paint does get me a little down when I come to clean it, but the way it drives always makes me forget about those things.

Not sure with the Octy, it still makes me grin but then I am also planning what I want next. Novelty of hilarity in 1st and 2nd gears is still present though! Novelty of adequate performance for most situations is pretty much taken for granted now, and I want something that can do 0-X with rear wheel(s) being powered.

Bike novelty didn't wear off, every long sweeping corner was excellent. Having found no good roads (in my opinion!111) down here put me off a bit though.

I can't help but smirk every time I get in my car! Then again, I've only had it for 10 days! Can't see it wearing off anytime soon though. :D

Had my ST24 for almost 2 years. Still puts a smile on my face when I boot it and vtech kicks in y0 (), however as there is rust appearing it saddens me slightly. Will most likely try and keep it for another 1 - 2 years though.

From about 3 months into owning my current motor I've been having peaks and troughs with how I feel about it. I've never been totally happy with it but it was bought as a compromise between what I wanted and what was suitable for my needs so that was always going to be the case.

At the moment I'm really enjoying it but a few months ago when on holiday all I could see were the negatives against it.

Most cars it lasts about a month, however my RF600 has kept me entertained for over two years now and I still love getting on it :)
My 200SX was still a joy to drive 12 months down the line when I sold it, so much that I am now looking for another. :)
