TV licence people.

Nope, taken directly off the TV Licencing web site.

You own a computer, a computer is capable of receiving live TV and recording it, so you have to pay the licence like everyone else.

The only way you will get around it is to prove that your computer is not able to receive to TV, ie doesnt have the hardware, that may require a visit from the TV people.

I think someone paid a tv license fee for his computer...

You can watch all of the BBC channels available on iPlayer live if you wish but that requires a license.

Watching the prerecorded programmes on iPlayer does not require a license.

It comes down to this in most cases - Are you watching a television broadcast live, be that through an aerial or a net connection or otherwise? Yes? Then you need a license. If it isn't a live feed you don't need a license. There are a couple of exemptions but they don't apply to 99% of people.

As for the radio in my car and my Computers:
-The radio is powered only by its own power source (albeit a big one) and so is covered by my parents TV licence, as I still reside at my parent's house for a large portion of the year. This was explained by the least threatening documentation I have from them, which was on my bed at the 1st halls I stayed in.
-The computer does not need a TV licence unless I use it to watch live television, which I don't. Although this is deliberately a massive grey area to make more people pay.

My beef is that the communication from them is all so rude, I refuse to cooperate with them at all until they stop treating me like a criminal.

.

You don't need a license at all for radio.

Do I need a TV Licence to listen to the radio?

No. You do not need a TV Licence to listen to the radio.

Eh? So the BS about portable TVs and Radios was to make me think I need a Licence for a big radio, without directly saying so. The *******s.

I should post a photo of my pile of threatening letters, been saving them for a while now as I'm seriously considering making a harassment complaint against them at my local Court, and no, I have not had a TV for almost 10 years, I do watch iPlayer occasionally though :)

Portable TVs isn't BS (see my post above). Anyone who says you need a license for Radio is talking out their derriere. Anyone who says TV licensing have the right to enter your home is doing the same.

Never let anyone in your house from the TV licenseing gestapo without a warrent, which they will never get because they have to prove that you are breaking the law, which they can't do unless you let them in.

In theory it's much easier to be 'caught' watching TV without a license on the Internet. Cross reference addresses without a license with addresses provided by an IPS of customers who have streamed live TV.
