Arch Enemy

<TRIGGER video>

...when the chorus starts it still gives me goose pimples! (played loudly!!)

That video is a companion piece to Soilwork's "Rejection Role" vid too. Soilwork are the guys in the truck shouting at In Flames who get their asses kicked.

The "Rejection Role" video is pretty much the same, but the other way round. :D

Angela Gossow is an amazing vocalist, shocked me to find out it was a woman doing vocals for Arch Enemy!

In terms of similar music though, Colony and Clayman are fantastic IF albums, Come Clarity is different but I still massively enjoyed it. The rest are quite meh post Clayman.

Dark Tranquillity are excellent, easily my favourite band since the moment I first heard their music. Their stuff continues to get better and better. Wintersun is another band you might enjoy as well, and you might like to give DevilDriver a shot too.

Another vote here for Wintersun, his earlier band Ensiferum are also amazing....one of my favorites ever.

If it's the riffing of Arch Enemy your into then check out Carcass, they are somewhat related.

'Melodic' Death Metal doesn't really do it for me, all sounds the same for the most part.

Metal sounds the same, death metal sounds the same, I'm not surprised in the slightest that 'melodic' death metal sounds the same too :D

Mark, I'm disappointed in you :(

LOL didn't see who the thread was by. Not as impressed with their last couple of albums, but they are far from bad. But I agree with whoever said that you have to be 'in the mood' for them. With all that said, We Will Rise is immense :D

ha.

Next you will be saying "its easy to play Metal you just put the gain up and play powerchords"

... oh wait, you already did :)

Ignorant, just like a "friend" of mine who said "what button do they press to play that "dugagaga" noise, he was referring to double bass

Lol I'm not sure if you troll metal threads deliberately or it just comes to you like some sort of insane instinct..

You may not like it, like I don't like D'n'B/HipHop, but like every other good type of music a lot of work goes into good metal, and try listening to Dragonforce - Through the Fire and Flames and In Flames - Take this Life and say all metal sounds the same, bar having similar instruments...so does Jazz, doesnt mean it sounds it all sounds the same, for example Bela Fleck vs Oldtown Jazz

Not a huge fan of melodeath, from what I've heard so far, it all sounds samey; very technical, but no real coherence and direction, just a lot of blast beats and some random melodies over the top.

That said, I've probably been listen to crap to begin with anyway.

I did like Arsis - A Celebration of Guilt and Quo Vadis - Defiant Imagination though.

I loved this albulm before I lost it :( I must find another copy again and dig it out!

I love the way that In your words comes in after the passing. It's an absolute belter of a way to start an album.

Hopefully going to sonisphere this year so will be getting bones broken to them
