**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Carlos Tevez has hinted for the first time that he will leave Manchester United at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old striker's loan ends next month and United have yet to put a permanent deal in place.

"There are many players and they all need to play but I have not played important matches," said Tevez.

Asked in an Argentine radio interview whether his stint with United was coming to an end, Tevez replied: "I think so."

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has repeatedly said the Tevez situation will be cleared up at the end of the season.

Tevez lost his regular place in Ferguson's team when Dimitar Berbatov joined the club from Tottenham for £30.75m last August.

Will SAF bring a new face in or promote Macheda/Welbeck to a more important role

The former West Ham forward told Radio Del Plata: "As a player I can't permit myself to play one game, but not another.

"And also, the World Cup is coming up. I see it very difficult to stay with Manchester United. That's the reality.

"You can score three or four goals and not play in the next game.

"It gets to your head. I need to play," said Tevez.

Tevez, who joined United from West Ham, claimed to have received offers from other clubs, including at least one La Liga club in Spain.

It would be a shame to let him go, even worse if he went to another Prem team. I'd rather Utd keep him than Berb.

Wouldn't mind to see us sniffing around Richards and M.Johnson.... on the one hand, City don't need to sell so waving a bit of cash around won't tempt them. On the other hand, if they are deemed surplus to requirements following a summer spending spree, they might accept a modest offer as they don't need the cash (in the same way that some of Chelsea's sales were arguably on the cheap)

difference being keeping berb is free. Buying an equally ineffective Tevez is 20m.

I of course don't agree that he's ineffective but yes, I realise Tevez still needs to be bought.

I was personally hoping Berbatov was going to be the next Nistelrooy i.e. target man, always in the 6-yard box, but he isn't. Neither are Tevez or Rooney. Utd miss one, even though goals are still being scored by the them and Ronaldo. Having said that, I can't remember how long, if at all, it took Nistelrooy to settle.

Indeed, I'd like us to let Tevez go and buy a target man if the funds are there. We shouldn't be spending 20m on a player who just doesn't offer us that much, especially compared to the other options we have.

I know David Villa has said he'd be honouring his 6 year contract at Valencia, but should he become availible i'd like us to be mentioned sniffing around him. I thought we missed a trick when Torres went to Liverpool and I don't want to see that happen again

So it's looking fairly certain Tevez will go. He was great for United at the start but as his career has gone on there he has gone off the boil.

Why do you think that is? I've heard he doesn't get on too well with the rest of the squad. A case of his face just not fitting perhaps?

Cudicini has totally wasted the final stage of his career, he could have been no 1 at any top club and was at one point on the verge of the Italian national team, but he chose to stay as Cech's understudy and now as Gomez's understudy, and now he is a shadow of the great keeper he could have been.

Its just a shame to see talent wasted.

Imagine the uproar if that happened - and SAF not being able to stop it

Mind you do you really think Liverpool will pay £25m or so - Im not sure, think there are more crucial areas of their sqaud to pay for first

Just read that Laursen's career might be over, new CB for Villa then. Quite a big blow if its true and they'll struggle to replace him.

To be honest though, he's been there about 4 years or so? And all that time he's been hampered by injuries, I think he was clear of them last season but that's it. It's bad they let Mellberg go now as they lack the experience at the back.
