***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

It's in both Survival mode and Versus mode, but not included in coop. I think that that is a good decision personally.

In regards to expert mode coop, I love it really, I just don't have the time during the week and at the weekend everyone plays versus (or survival I suppose in future) so you get to play with more people at the same time. I'll happily give ya a game or two sometime Lyon, I still need the achievements for expert coop :)

Need to get a VS game tonight and get you sorted with vent

(Which is better than mumble all you doubting thomases :p)

Pah :p

Mumble for the win. Though I personally think most of them do the job well enough.

Of course, using voice apps in L4D Vs is seen as a little controversial sometimes :)

Hehe to be fair mumble and vent are similar enough in terms of codecs and quality. If I hate anything it's teamspeak.

For mumble is the server client free or do you have to pay ricidulous licensing like you do with Ventrilo? Thats the one annoying thing for me and the enterprise version for resellers is pretty much the only one worth having, which you pay through the balls for!!! Free one is 10man slot, which sucks :(

game still needs major patches

just played death toll versus

team A gets virtually no hoard
team b gets 100,000 generic zombies on first level

team A gets a tank

team b doesn't

2nd level

Team A gets a tank

Team B doesn't

Team A faces 1 witch

Team B gets 2 in a row

Team A gets loads of tovs and pipebombs

Team B gets nothing

Game is fun but that's all it is until all these inconsistency's are fixed

Mumble is completely free/open-source, which is the main reason I went for it over teamspeak to be honest. That said, when I was forced to use my old teamspeak server again for a bit the audio quality was beyond awful :s

Strange, my experience last night on DT VS was very dissimilar to yours.

If one team got a tank, the others did (Allbeit timings were quite off at times).
E.G- DT church level, they had the tank as you walk past the big buses, a good 5 minutes into the map. Our team had it almost as soon as we decended from the church!

I also noticed a few bugs with pouncing from buildings but not as bad as some people have made out.

One thing I do agree with, is that DT first map for the SECOND TEAM (was my team) there were gazillions of zombies just stood around waiting to nom.

Oh and the finale, the first team played and died right before they got on the boat. Then the game went to the main menu, no finale for the second team :(
Obviously still buggy but my experience not as bad as yours!

That's basically it's win over Vent. If I was hosting I'd prolly use it too in which case.

I'd like to see them adding these maybe, but also when someone picks up any weapon it disappears until they drop it again. That way 1 autoshottie, 1 of everything stops people from all grabbing the same gun day in, day out. It would improve diversity I think. It would also mean one person is still on a tier 1 weapon, until they come across these bonus weapons or a teamate dies and he picks up theirs

I am liking this idea a lot :), would definitely add an extra challenge and make it more 'real-life' :p, yeah like shooting zombies is real...............wait, what? I thought this was all in preparation for the inevitable zombie apocalypse

Updates to Left 4 Dead have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

Survival Mode Changes

■Darkened the Lighthouse background movie and increased the contrast with the user interface elements

■Chapter selection is now available when creating a Survival lobby

■Single player coop now works correctly after playing Survival online

■The correct game mode will be set when playing back a demo

■Changed holdout server spew to be development only

■Stats are no longer updated while viewing a demo

■Correctly update the leaderboard based on the player's personal time, not the team best time

■Show the player's best time in the scoreboard

■Removed Survival exploits from The Terminal, Last Stand, The Crane, The Boathouse and The Warehouse

■Fixed tanks sometimes not spawning after 15-20 minutes

Some interesting fixes there, though I now seem to have lost my acheivements :(

Hello... sorry to maybe have a quick ninja of your thread, but I have a question about LFD and my PC... a couple of friends play, and I'd like too, but my PC isn't all that!

I have an Nvidia GeForce 7900 GS if I remember correctly, just wondered if this would be up to scratch...

More than capable. My friend played it on his X700 (equivalent of one of the old ATI 9700 cards).

It's definitely not hijacking the thread - such posts are more than welcome in here :)
