Sugar is apparently a 'bomb ingredient'. You couldn't make this stuff up...

wouldnt google how to make a bomb out of suger :p

did avation lvl4 training other week at work and was told not to google about making bombs by the trainer ^^

lol - maybe if they had 20kg of the stuff, but come on this is silly.

everybody in the country has the ingredients to make a bomb in their kitchen - doesn't make us terrorists does it?

Aah yes I remember this. Idiot at the top makes an error, suspects are brought in early and a big fuss is made. They find sod all, and I read yesterday that they're being released since there's no evidence to hold them. Mid section of the newspaper.

Well it wouldn't do to make too big a fuss about them being innocent, would it? People might stop hating and fearing foreigners if they did that.

how do you know they're on their own? what if they where found in a room with weed killer/other ingredients well away from the kitchen?

How do you know those exist?

Unless you have some inside info on the case then you're the one grasping at straws here.

I'm not the one talking of an "Easter plot".

Speaking of the northwest raids...http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8011341.stm

Seems all of the suspects were released without charge.

Sugar has no real bomb usage tbh, only thing its good for is cheap lightweight rocket fuel and smoke bombs when mixxed in ratio with salt peter,
this is just clutching at straws due to bosses **** up

It's also easily used in conjunction with eggs and flour to make a delicious cake.
And flour is usually used in conjunction with other ingredients to make bread, but can also be used to explosive effect.

The list of seemingly innocent household products that have undesirable alternative uses is long and varied.

Can't really say anything until we know exactly how much sugar was found and, more importantly, what else was found too.

Don't put it in the oven ..... BOOM.

I could go out, spend under a tenner on a particular childhood favourite toy and use that to make an explosive device that would cut someone to shreds when detonated.

It's quite scary how easy these things are to make.

Yes, it CAN be used for those things. Doesn't mean it IS used for that though. I COULD use my archery kit to go on a killing rampage through Bristol (or at least, until I ran out of arrows), but guess what? I'm not going to. I COULD use my big kitchen knife to slash people open, but I'm no going to.

Ability != intent.

Even with the current bad press of the police, I don't think they would raid a house just because the owner has more than enough sugar for a cup of tea and some cornflakes.

surely you guys must have learned by now, terrorism is not about real threats (i mean 'the boogey mans gonna get you' type terrorism the media and establishment are constantly hyping).. infact you are much more likely to die driving to work tommorow in a car crash or drown when you are swimming at the local pool this weekend.

These stories are for the mass sheeple who dont have enough discernment to know when they are being lied to or fooled, because we all know terrorism, like the war on drugs is all about incrementaly removing our freedoms and liberties (the ones that our forefather fought very hard for) and increasing the powers of the state machinery and not much else.

My girlfreind used to make cakes and the like, used to go shopping and buy crates of sugar... i guess shes gonna need a background check soon because thats always the answer of the authorities, punish the majority because of the 'supposed' threat of a small minority who we all know dont exist in the capacity that we are meant to believe (i.e. Osama shutting down NORAD lol).

i mean the hubris of these people, it just frustrates me that they can say things like this and no one bats an eyelid - a bit like last week when Kommissar Brown announed he wants all 19 year olds to do 50 hours of, and i quote, 'compulsory volunteer work' - now if that aint double speak then i must have happened to fall off a turnip truck last week.

ive vented.

Ah yes, the conspiracies cometh.

I thought it was lizardmen you were all getting hot and bothered about, not insectoids in skin suits. Who knows how much sugar water you could manufacture with all those crates of sugar. :p

its rubbish, just like the so called 'liquid bombs' that scared airlines and everybody a year or two ago - its nonsense, it just isn't that easy to make bombs like that.

Hmm my mum has a few bags of various types of flour hidden away in a cupboard, infact I'm sure she has castor sugar too!

I know shes my mum but its only right that I report her :(
