Bank of Essex

Right, don't mean to seem rude but I'm in too good a mood to be arguing the toss over this.

Think I'm going to go eat a cookie in sun.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Essex is worse than a developing country, etc.

I'm just simply saying I don't like it here. The pace of life, the attitude, the heavily built up areas, noise and pollution, and the subcultures are crap.

The part of Essex you know may be like that, but I can assure you there are many, many parts of this county that aren't like it. Perhaps you're the one who should take the blinkers off and have a look a bit further afield

I've taken the C2C to shoeburyness and wasn't too pleased with the views out of the window. I haven't been to the northern part of the county before, hopefully it's a lot nicer!

For christ sake, read the thread next time Feek. I've already said there are nice areas. Everyone's so bloody defensive.

My blinkers are well and truly off. I hate where I live and its surrounding area, is that so hard for you to understand?

Essex is mostly crap though. The good places are few and far between. Therefore, let's go by the majority rule: rubbish.

I've read the thread.

And I disagree. Strongly. So I'll leave now because we're both set and aren't going to change our minds.

I do agree - the best bits of Essex is the north part from Chelmsford onwards.. Saffron Waldon, Hatfield Broad Oak, Thaxted etc..

Woo, Walden! Lived there until I was 18. Only problem there being, it's really kindof dull if you're under 18 :p

Still, I enjoyed growing up there, and am certainly grateful to have been in the north of Essex rather than the south. I also largely managed to avoid the accent, which was nice.

That said, I don't see myself ever going back there now - if I'm down in Cambridge, I'll drop by some pubs I used to go to, or visit a few people who are still hanging around, but the vast majority of my friends moved out of the area. Plan to head back to Edinburgh when I return to the UK :) Both Saffron Walden and Edinburgh have spoiled me in terms of access to big open green spaces - something which China isn't so big on. Hell, I supposedly live in one of the greenest cities here, and still feel suffocated. North Essex countryside was cool.
