Going for a walk.. along a 60 MPH road

In case of hidden hazards, which was an issue in your case. If you can't see past the apex of the corner or there's a blind dip, backing off a bit does no harm. There's a few corners on some 60 roads near me that if I took them at 60 i'd plant myself in a hedge.

Now, consider they have every right to be walking on that lane (I could understand if they were walking along a stretch of the M6..) as lanes don't usually have foot-paths for people to walk on.

So you walk on the grass, last I checked if a lane was deemed fine for people to walk on then the lane would not be NSL

The narrow lanes around here are always full of ramblers, some with kids, dogs etc. These roads dont have footpaths so its the only way to get from point A to point B.

Depends a lot on the road/hedges/visibility - some national limit B roads are safe at 100mph, others at no more that 30mph, but it sounds like you need to take a share in this incident, especially for winding down your window and giving them a mouthful. Sounds like you need to just calm down a bit on the roads.

Weather or not they should be there is besides the point.
It wasn't raining.
Were they also walking on the wrong side?
They'd got this right... probably a coincidence.

I only had a go at them for the fun factor. I don't get wound up about this kind of thing :)

Must have misread your OP - I don't see any violence in it by anyone? You stopped, had an argument safe in the knowledge you were in car then drove off?

How fast were you really going, be honest now ...
At most, 70 for a few moments. When I encountered them, 55-60. The road doesn't have many long straights.
 What time of the day was this? I definately saw people walking on the A13 on my way to work in Lakeside
Hmm, I can't honestly remember. Around 4-5pm? It wouldn't surprise if their next stop was the M25.

I'm sure he wasn't chasing after me to get my phone number.

Pedestrians have right of way on any road other than motorways. Driving around country lanes, you should only ever drive at a speed whereby you can stop in the distance you can see ahead. The fact that you had to brake sharply means you were driving too fast, no matter how you look at it.

I am so bloody fed up with people zipping around narrow lanes as if they own them, with no regard to what anyone else might be doing. Every time I go for a drive, there's always some bleeding numpty in a bigger car sitting right up my tailpipe (usually a woman driver, surprisingly enough).
