Lupo GTi

Hi there,

I think it is wise to step back and lets go over your car requirements and final budget. It might be hard for you to see, but there are better cars for the same and less money.

I think you need to test drive a few other cars - you might really one in particular that you completely overlooked.

As for the Type R drinking fuel - does your brother have a heavy right foot? :P

Given what the OP said about her brothers Civic Type R being to quick, i doubt that a Clio 182 is for her either as performance is pretty much identical.

Isn't £6500 just about into Mini Cooper money ?

No. I'm inclined to say not at all, but you might get a starship mileage ratbag with knackered PAS, if you're lucky.

This wouldn't be the car would it?

Bought my car from them a couple weeks ago. :D

Yes it is this one. Did you get much of a discount when you bought your car? :p

If this car needs so much doing to it i'd have my doubts if it had been looked after well previously. Sounds like you are paying a premium so best make sure you get an immaculate example for your money!

This is true, and actually made me think twice. I'm not in desperate need of a new car so I guess I can wait until the perfect one comes along, and maybe next time i'll come across a nicer sales person... I will just have to pretend that my Lupo is a GTi for the moment :D

I've decided to call them up tomorrow and get my money back. The MD actually called me up this afternoon and said they have someone looking to buy the car and would like to know if I am going ahead with it, if not then he's going to refund my money (cheeky bugger..) so I said i'll let him know tomorrow.

How about something like this? I'm sure you would get this for a bit under 5k. Standard, it has more miles on it admittedly but a full service history with all the essential bits changed.

I had a look at this too, but it was the 'private' sale and mileage that kinda put me off. I wouldn't have a clue what to look out for and I might end up buying a bad car. At least with a garage/dealer I can always go back within the first few months to complain about things (or so I think)

The Ibiza Cupra suggestion is not bad actually. Just tried to search on autotrader but not many come up under the price of 7k. I can't help but think that it looks a bit boyish though? Checked insurance and it isn't as bad as I thought at £530 (tesco value though, normal is £690). How much would you guys pay for this car?

Not really, paid a few hundred over the average trade valuations however i had the timing belt + water pump belt + tensioners done included in the price so pretty much broke even. Engine warning light did come on after 4 days which left me a bit miffed so they are sorting it out. They've given me a Lupo 1.4 in the mean-time to get me to work while they are sorting it out.

I wouldnt say the Ibiza is boyish. I'd say its more of a girly car tbh as i'd always think the LCR to be more of the mens alternative.

Hi Guys

So anyway, I have two options here… 1) get my £100 back and find another car (but I have been looking and can’t find any close to where I live and I prefer trade sales rather than private – I have trust issues….)

They made less than 1000 of these, - whatever amount that have been written off means there arent going to be a lot for sale at any one time. You will have to travel, and you will have a lot more choice if you consider private.

Come to www.clublupo.co.uk, and have a look at the for sale section. You can search the owners posts and see what they have said about the car, plus get a idea of what yo look for when you go view

Can't believe a gti spec car would still have acres of exposed steel instead of a proper interior.
