Cornwall Gets Nasty Over Devon's Pasty Prize

Lol my missus's uncle in Torrington owns a bakery.

He was telling us that some women is going to pay them to try and make the worlds biggest scone and take it to London lol.

I mean....only in Devon!

Jeez :D

What's the name of it?

Edit - Pengenna pasties, that's the one I was thinking of.

Dirty Devoners!

Philps Pasties in Hayle are the best!

What he said +100

Actually I think the argument is that the Cornish Pasty producers are not annoyed that a pasty made in Devon won the competition, it's that they still call it a Cornish Pasty, when they should call it a Devon Pasty.

Silly I know but there is regional protection on certain foods, for example Cornish Clotted cream is protected, so is Champayne, Parma Ham, Melton Mowbray Pork Pies. Unfortunetly Cornish Pasties are not protected at the moment but it is being considered by the EU.

Funnily enough the worst Cornish Pasties in the world are made in Cornwall, they are made by Ginsters you may have heard of them.

my gran used to make lovely pasties, we had dessert in the end of them, usually apple and custard, proper sized as well not these fist sized jokes ginsters chuck out.

Yeah I like the dessert ones, they are nice. Havnt tried one in ages, had a shop in newquay once that sold them.
