How do you send a zip file over MSN? I keep getting prompted that it's a potentially unsafe file type and to install an anti virus program, is there any way around this?

I Rar mine and I don't have any pop ups or notifications, maybe try some other kind of compression?

I think it only refuses to send .zip etc and .exe files if there isn't an antivirus prog linked to msn?

Just go into the msn settings and use the one they suggest if you don't know any better?

+1, When it prompts you just accept - no other way round it.

Not strictly true. You can use ANY command line/on demand virus scanner by entering its location and any flags in the box provided. Eset, Kaspersky, Avira and any of the big players will have this information on their site and/or forums or whatever. :)

install hamachi on both machines

then transfer over ftp (filezilla server and filezilla client), or simply windows filesharing

i tend to split files up into 5mb chunks using 7zip before sending

hamachi is like a basic MSN, but it creates an actual network between you.

I always have problems with .zips and .exes.

Generally, I just tell them to .rar it, and it gets saved fine.

Like the file extension tip though!
