oohh stop making excuses - there is no "compensation" for sending a player off - thats completely ridiculous

There where also a lot of soft free kicks AGAINST Rafael that wherent deserved, fine they may be compensation for the free kick that Almunia ***** up with, but thats his fault and no one elses, Utd and Fletcher shouldnt have to pay for that

Perhaps you should read my earlier post.

Feel sorry for Fletcher there, he got a nick on the ball.

As for Arsenal, 2 individual errors and general gutlessness - they are a million miles away from being anywhere near as good as Man United.

I just hope this performance opens Wenger's eyes and shows him that there are many players in this squad simply not good enough.

I'm not making any excuses for Arsenal's loss. I'm not saying that the ref was biased towards Man United. I'm simply saying that in my opinion he had an overall bad game.

I 100% agree that the Fletcher decision was wrong and that was one of the points I highlighted.

Atleast we only have 1 player missing the final, not the whole squad.

Absolutely gutted for him though.

Can it not be appealed? It's one of the best tackles I've ever seen and the resulting penalty was probably THE best penalty I've ever seen.

Gotta love RVP.

Oh well, not good enough over the two legs so no complaints really. Annoying to see that freekick though, even before it was taken I was seething at the way Ronaldo went down.

Pleased to see Eboue keeping his cool though after he got booked for a gentle shoulder barge

It was insane, yellow for his first foul I believe, while Rafael who'd barely been on the pitch had commited maybe 6 fouls already and got nothing. The ref really was appauling all around, for both sides. THe freekick for Ronaldo's goal was non existant, Adebayor got 2 for ridiculous dives, touching and incoming ball and throwing himself to the ground. Even basic throw ins, towards the end a Man U player basically threw it out, Sagna didn't touch it and he gave Man U the throw. Not sure I've seen such a huge game referee'd quite that badly before.

decent performance, real shame about fletcher. it was an honest mistake by the ref but i do feel bad for him as i think he'd have been a dead cert to start.

As said above, Wenger really needs to sort this squad out. It's telling that UTD didn't even have £20m worth of players around and they still beat us with ease. Urgh..

That sending off has put a real downer on tonight. Fantastic performance from the team, glad to see us through to another Champions League final. Gutted for Fletcher.

Perfect night ruined by a stupid decision from the referee. Considering we're in the final it doesn't feel as good as I hoped after that moment of stupidity. Fletcher would have started regardless of whether it's Chelsea or Barcelona.

Anyway, that third goal was absolutely immense. Typical United goal.

Arsenal fans, shame on you.

Not 100% sure he would have started (after SAF's comments especially) - but he would have been on the bench for definite if he didnt

UEFA don't allow appeals except for mistaken identity.

Thought i overheard something about that in the pub.

UEFA need to seriously reconsider their regulations.

Not only was it harsh on Fletcher he had a brilliant game tonight and really deserved to play in the final, did he play last year? As far as my memory serves me i don't think he did?

?

Ronaldo had a knee in his thigh! It was a free kick every day of the week. It doesn't matter what Ronaldo did after the foul.

I wish people understood the game!

Harsh sending off for Fletcher but I think he prevented a goal scoring opportunity by following through on Fabregas, it's not like he'd cleared the ball out of danger.

Penalty? I think so but certainly not a sending off.

Good performance by Man UTD, Arsenal well I'm not sure how they made it to the semi's on that showing.

tbh ive tthought we have had quite a poor season performance wise, we have not been steamrolling teams like we were last year, ive been saying all season we have been lucky or have ground out results a lot of the time, however every team hits a rich vein of form at least once in the year, hopefully after the performances against spurs (2nd half) boro (to an extent) and tonight we can kick on and start playing the kind of fast attacking football we played last year.

I put a post in a week or so ago about Man U being in good for recently with the win at spurs and borough. Especially when before that we were squeaking wins at Sunderland and Villa, so that's what i meant by staying in good form.

I agree with you on our form, aside from the 15 game purple patch we've not been great, but as long as you can keep churning wins then I'm happy :D

and you also insinuated in your latter post that the ref had a right to send fletcher off for the soft decisions given the other way - which is just wrong
