Not 100% sure he would have started (after SAF's comments especially) - but he would have been on the bench for definite if he didnt

Course he would, Fergie used the same midfield three in a game he wanted to go all out attack in, and a game he wanted to defend a 1-0 lead in. Plus Fletcher always plays the big games and the only reason he missed out last season was because of Hargreaves' end of season form.

Harsh sending off for Fletcher but I think he prevented a goal scoring opportunity by following through on Fabregas, it's not like he'd cleared the ball out of danger.

Penalty? I think so but certainly not a sending off.

Good performance by Man UTD, Arsenal well I'm not sure how they made it to the semi's on that showing.

Are you sure you're thinking about football? You clear the ball = no foul, no penalty, no red card!

Fan = Glory Hunter
Supporter = True fan

?

Fan(atic)= person that will follow and back the team no matter how rubbish they are.
Supporters can be many different things. I will be supporting barca tomorrow because that is how I like football to be played.

Wenger really needs to get some experience into the spine of that team.

I think Fergie's realised that the midfield three of Carrick, Anderson and Fletcher is the perfect way to allow Rooney, Ronaldo +1 to play to their strengths. Pretty sure we'd have played the same team in the final.

As said above, Wenger really needs to sort this squad out. It's telling that UTD didn't even have £20m worth of players around and they still beat us with ease. Urgh..

Hargreaves cost £17m and won the EPL and CL in his first season,( so increasing his value) and Wes Brown must be worth £20m

edit - oohhh after seeing your reply above I see what you mean

maybe - I think Giggs OR Scholes would get into the final without a doubt just from their experience. While Fletcher didnt deserve it, think it makes SAF's choice a lot easier come late May with Carrick and Anderson able to do the running (and even Park available for a more central position)

and you also insinuated in your latter post that the ref had a right to send fletcher off for the soft decisions given the other way - which is just wrong
Why would I blatantly contradict myself?

I was listing the reasons I thought the ref had a bad game. One of which was the way I felt he wrongly tried to overcompensate the soft decisions he had given in United's favour, with another bad choice to send off Fletcher.

I'm not saying he had a right at all, I'm saying he was wrong on both counts.

You think someone would pay more than 17m for Hargreaves and his spotless injury record? And whilst I'm one of the few who rates Brown, 20m?

He has played the same amount of games as last season and was not in the final last year

Because Hargreaves was fit.

Im pretty sure of it too. Doubt Scholes and Giggs would have started but now with Fletcher missing, one of them will start I think.

The only other change could be Park for Berbatov.

Depends on the opponent tbh though.

Fletcher WOULD have started in the final, I can be 99% sure of that. Only reason he didn't start last years final was because Hargreaves was fit.

Darren Fletcher is top class when he's in the middle with Carrick, he breaks things up and hurries the opposition into making mistakes, as well following funs from midfield (as shown tonigh :( ) which would have been vital against Barca if they get to the final.

Pretty disappointed with the game tonight - I was expecting more of an entertaining game as a neutral.

The thing that should worry Arsenal is that in 180 minutes they barely looked a thread in the final third, despite all their possession. If it hadn't been for the penalty, (which shouldn't have been a penalty) they didn't really have a decent in either leg.

I think the ref ruined the game tonight - he gave everything to United in the first half and then stopped play every two seconds in the second half. The whole game went to pieces after the penalty and got very dull. I feel very sorry for Fletcher, whether he would have played the final or not is surely now a moot point. (and don't call me Shirley).

Here's hoping tomorrow night's game is a bit more entertaining.

wtf is everyone going on about the fletcher crap? if you were standing where the ref was you'd have given a red. he wouldnt have played in the final (fergie stumbled and mumbled when asked about it) - stop moaning ffs :p

medication is available for a reason.

even if these were boom times Hargreaves would be extremely lucky to fetch half that given his fitness and wes brown is worth 20million rubles at best.

lol who needs to watch comedies.

The ref couldn't see who made contact with who, or who touched the ball. So why he gave the penalty is beyond me let alone a red card.

.

Henry is probably worth £20m - he isnt exactly injury free either (and a number of other top rate players)

Maybe this is the low point of his career - quite possible OH has a injury free season next season and his value rockets for the right reasons (not just 18 months of 6-8 year career thats gone pretty well)
