BARCELONA Grand Prix 2009 - Race 5/17

So much for Brawns 6 tenths for the new aero package. They are about where they were before. If all cars get a solid get away it's vettels race for my money. He just has to sit and wait for button to pit.

Red Bull looks like the car to beat depending on how it eats tyres. Plus they have the money to keep on pushing.

Surely by looking at the qualifying times alone the Brawns were fastest. Last race the Brawns were a couple of tenths down on the RB cars now they are around a tenth quicker. Don't forget just because Brawn say they got six more tenths doesn't mean the other teams didn't get anything extra too :D

I don't think Button has to worry about Vettel personally. He kept his cool against him in Australia quite easily and had no problem last race. The main thing he has got to worry about is that quick Ferarri Massa Baby has got himself this weekend. Remember what all those Kers cars did in the previous race at the start ;).

Should be a very close race between the top three, I can't see either Vettle or Rubens letting Button scamper away with it. It'll be interesting to see what Massa can do also.

Wish it was on know, just got back from work and If I went to bed now, no way would I get up for the start..

Still, looking forward to this race..

This is going to be interesting, too many 'variables' to make predicting the outcome nothing more then luck..

In my eyes,
Brawn GP seem to have good race pace no matter what, and so far are executing excellently, if they keep that record up, I'd have to put them a nose in front for taking it
Ferrari have improved massavely (sic), and if they don't win, they may just get between Vettel/Button/Barichello and possibly define the race winner having a podium themselves (and in with a shout to win)
Red Bull are in a good place, have a good car, but there is something that is not quite working at it's optimum, or is working too well and having an overall detrimental affect on the car. This may be the race it all comes good, and you can trust Vettel to have the same consistency Button is showing to make it count.

I'll be watching LH, purely for the effects of pressure, I think most drivers would now be very disheartened, being the current champion and driving the knackers off the car to fail to get to Q3 is not going to do your mental state much good, and this is surely a 'test' of his ability now.

We could all shout loudly :D

Can you not set an alarm far enough away from you that you have to get up to turn it off?

That wont work. I'll either sleep through it, or turn it of and crash out again..
Like the shouting idea, if I leave my door open you can come shout in my ear :D

Was hopping to get home early, but we had an overrun. Sorry if we delayed your train. Well wasn't anything to do with us, but it was our work site.

Morning guys - was out yesterday so only just watching the qualifying...

Be ready for my opinions later ;):p

Fuel corrected qualifying lap times. So so close

1 Vettel - lap 16
2 Button +0.059 seconds - lap 14
3 Massa +0.151 - lap 17
4 Barrichello +0.172 - lap 15
5 Webber +0.389 - lap 16
6 Trulli +0.454 - lap 16
7 Glock +0.762 - lap 14
8 Alonso +0.959 - lap 13
9 Rosberg +1.321 - lap 23
10 Kubica +1.728 - lap 19

It would be difficult to bet against J.Button winning it from pole position, as history suggests that that is where the winner normally comes from, in the Spannish GP.

For those of you who are suggesting that the BrawnGP cars aren't fast - their qualifying pace is usually slower than their race pace (relative to other cars), which means that if they qualify in pole, they will be even more dominant in the race.

The trouble is Jenson said interviewed that the car isn't working well for him with lower fuel. He couldn't match the pace of even rubens until he had a heavier car.

As the car starts to lighten he's expecting his pace to drop off. He's having problems getting the best out of the new aero package. As the car lightens I don't think he will have the pace to stop Vettel getting ahead at the stops or if vettel gets ahead on the start stay with him.

Hamiltons in with a real shout of the podium with the fuel he's running. These gambles can often pay off on a two stopper, when you have nothing to lose. Especially if there is an incident. They could get heiki to cause one ;)

I don't think Hamilton has had enough pace all weekend to get a podium, even if he was 4th/5th. I think raikkonen is more likely to make his way through the field, then again he might just be wanting to finish early for ice cream :p

Poor Acidhell, if I were you, I would discover coffee ;)
While we're at the subject of favors....Anyone have a laptop I can borrow? :DSince I wanna watch this downstairs on my big Panny... but want the live timing too

Acidhell!!!!!
WAKE UP!!!!
:D

I decided to stay in bed instead of driving round to see you but here is your 10 past 12 wake up call anyway!

(plus you live in stinky gasland and I'd hate to catch anything! :p )

Afternoon all - just watched the quali and it was most satisfying - could anyone confirm the fuel loads?

Makes me wonder that if Button (or many other drivers) had the same opportunities and support that someone like Hamilton had from the off what they could achieve...

And for Locke the Live Timings are in my sig ;)
