Bit of a downer but it appears that Hayate will be released across 7 or 8 disks instead of the 4 cour-long sets most people were expecting. Seems rather foolish to do in this financial climate.

Anyway, off to FP in London this morning (and maybe a few other places :)) before lunch at the Japan Centre :p

Finished Welcome to the NHK in the space of about 2 days, which was really good. Don't know what happened to episode 4 and 19 though, the animation went really poor for some reason. Still a great series though, really funny.

Not sure what to watch next now. I feel like rewatching Haruhi so I might do that.

Has anyone played the Tsukihime visual novel by any chance? My friend, who is a huge visual novel fan, has pretty much forced be to play it (like he did with Planetarian ¬_¬) and I've been pretty much addicted to it for the last day and a half lol. He says the anime is very poor in comparison to the novel.

Nope, I have a couple of Visual Novels but never seem to have the time to actually play any of them, (e.g. I have DaCapo from Manga Gamers which I really need to make time to play).

Just watched the Negima OVA's (UK version), which were funny, ecchi but funny especially the visual gags in the Summer OVA :)

What really made me laugh though was flicking through to the extras. and at the start of the trailers is Rolf Harris (I think) doing an anti piracy ad, then the Australian trailers...

For some reason I don't think Manga even bothered to reauther the DVD for the UK, but did a straight copy of the R4 (they do often share authoring/coversion to PAL with Madman).

I think I've seen several other DVDs where they seem to have just taken the Madman release and put it out with little or no changes, (and given that Madman releases are normally pretty good I'm not considering it an issue :))

I thought that the Negima!? OVAs were pretty amusing too ... need to pick up the actual second season though so I'm trying to resist the current Funimation discounts on TRSI (and I need season 2 of School Rumble too).

I see that it's been confirmed that Yen Press are re-releasing volumes 1-5 of Yotsuba&! in September along with the new volume 6, (with 7 and 8 to follow in December and April '10 respectively). That's good to see as they are great, funny, and gentle stories to read. May have to double dip on them.

Not getting to watch much at the moment as I'm down my parents throwing away computer equipment at the moment ...

So has anyone jumped onto the K-On! bandwagon? It’s one of the most cute and funny series in a while and I swear that anything Kyoto Animation does will become an instant success or phenomenon.

Yes, I have to admit that I generally like Kyoto Animations output and K-ON! seems pretty good so far, (admittedly I am an episode or two behind at the moment though). Can't quite justify getting the Japanese Blu-ray release for it at the moment but I have got the two soundtrack singles which have been released so far in limited editions.

Hopefully it'll be licensed, maybe ADV can release it after doing Clannad After Story (which they really need to license too).

edit: According to a thread over at AoDVD the video programming list for the upcoming AnimeBoston convention (22-24/05) has Clannad After Story listed as showing on the friday against ADV, If it is right, (which of course is by no means assured), then we could start seeing it being released by the end of the year ...

edit2: **** the above edit has been shown to be currently incorrect

Not yet although I may watch it later (its on the list :o). I've been more interested in azura cryin, shangri la, basquash and 07 Ghost (along with a few continuations from last season) which all seem pretty good to me so far, especially shangri la.

Finished watching Maria Holic yesterday
Is sort of a combination of Maria sama and Otoboku, but a parody of both
Not quite sure what to make of it to be honest Main lead is a Yuri fanatic who basically is bullied by the other`girl` throughout the series. No completion as it looks like it has been left open for a second series
plenty of `nosebleeds` ;)

Hmmm ... may need to take a look at it when I'm back on a decent internet connection ... ;)

Finished Rideback yesterday, gotta keep an eyeout for the dvds when available :)
bit sad towards the end and hoping for a series 2 but worth the time to watch in my opinion
on another note was surfing away and discovered an prequel/ova related to fancy lala called `Harbor Light Story -From Fashion Lala`
never knew about this.got the dvd boxset a while ago( i thought that the ending sucked BIGTIME) Just a bit of useful/less trivia i thought i would share :)

oh my god, K-On! is hilarious. :D

The first four episodes had me laughing so much. It's stupid and childish humour but it's still so funny. Couldn't stop laughing when Yui saw the double necked SG and thought of someone with 4 arms.

Was watching a few eps of Lucky Star again this eve and something caught my ear.( Ep 8)
It was said that Kagami was the older twin because she was born first
I thought i have read somewhere that in Japan the `older`twin is the last born as when they are in the womb the last born (younger) is on top
Mistake on the Japanese story or the English dub i wonder?:)

I was a bit dubious of the series at first tbh as its main appeal was basically being moe to an extreme.

But tbh i think its turning out to be great 'turn your brain off and enjoy it' fodder. It does has its lol moments and i think they're turning Mio into the star of the show so far lol.

An another note, went ahead and ordered Clannad parts 1 & 2, i would order the Kanon and Air boxsets but i think ill wait to see if they go down in price a bit.

Any news on After Story being licenced?

Hi all, been awhile since i posted in this thread.

Well i have just finished watching Inuyasha tho not the movies and all i can say is WOW. What a mint series that was. It had blood and demon's and all sorts of cool stuff i like. But i was disappointed because the story wasn't wrapped up in the final 167 episode. I am totally gutted about that and feel betrayed by the makers as i hate watching animé with no wrap ups at the end.

Dont suppose it will wrap up in the future will it?

Next on my list of animé to watch is.

Gurren Lagann set 1
Mahoromatic season 2
Godannar
Hyper Police
Got a lot of Slayers stuff as mate is a big fan so hes letting me watch some to try.

Oh yeah i also have seen

Malice Doll - Very creepy and very strangely made as in not the typical animé style more realism and artistic to me i thought. It was mint tho.

Blue Gender - This started crappy but turned out really nice. It was a post apocalyptic setting and it had a bit of space in it near the end, the "blue" mystery unwrapped well tho got weird near the end with the blue. Animé style was retro looking tho i think its a old animé tho cant recall as i don't have the dvds in front of me atm.

Shuffle - This was some excellent harem. It started ok but got really good after a few eps. Loved this to bits. :)

The Third, the girl with the blue eye. - This was just plain awesomeness. Its post apocalyptic. Its got great animation. Its got a great flow to the show, the characters were well developed tho some could have been better fleshed out like the daughter of the killed legend mechanic (cant remember exact details there as it was awhile ago for me watching it). But overall defo one of my fav anime's of all time for me.

Bubblegum crisis - This was good but kinda got boring near the end.

After Story ... well the general feeling is that a license announcement will come soon from ADV/Sentai ... but nothing is confirmed yet. If I was being cynical I'd say that the "mistake" with the AnimeBoston video listings was a test of how much interest there is in it. Personally, I think that we will get a licence announcement before the summer with a solicitation for PT1 by the end of the year.

don't do it is absolute rubbish

may give this another shot then if you say it gets better.

which one - the original series, the 3 episode remake or the tokyo 2040 remake, I've seen the 3 episode and tokyo 2040 and thought they weren't too bad.

tokyo 2040

Yeah Godannar isnt very good from what little i have seen. The attraction was that the anime art looked very nice and hear theres some nice bouncing er moving along hehe so its all terrible then is it?

The first half of shuffle was fantastic, i thought it was a great example of a harem. then in the second half of the show it quickly went down hill when the characters started to go bonkers. primula (i think her name was, its been a while) was the only good thing about that show once it had all ended. brilliant example of character development.

Yeah first half was mint. The 2nd half wasnt as good but still not bad.

About Gurren Lagann set 1.

Its turning out really good so far. I love the setting the characters and the half naked chicks :). Im watching ep 6 and OMG its just awesome. Especially the bit where they are trying to peek at the girls over the wall and they ask the little kid to find a hole, keep in mind the lads are naked and the young lad doesnt know what HOLE to look for. All i will say is he found one and put his finger in then LMAO city. :D
