What is it?

Got a Zotac 8800GTS 512mb currently which is doing its job but always like to know my options. Been NVidia for about 506 upgrades now but open to ATI if the card is right.

Been looking at the 4890 for under £200, and the 275 for just above £200, reeally the limit i'd pay for a card, and its got to be a single solution since i've only got one slot.

Cheers.

PS: Overclocking the GPU isn't a priority, but nice to have (i find the fans run too noisy so OC'ing it generally annoys me)

Based on this I'd say the 275. a lot of people seem to say the 4890 is very loud, even at stock. Since it seems you much prefer a quieter card, the 275 seems like a better bet. Although I can't vouch for either, it could be that the 275 is loud too, I don't know.

Sitting next to a 4890 right now, fan speed at 30% and it's quieter than my Fortress case fans.

So I'll put in a vote for the 4890, you can get them for under £200 as well which I would say is pretty much the only thing that swayed me between that and the 275.

I would have the HD4890 or a GTX260 216 core...and overclock it a bit...

if the cooler on the HD is too loud just replace it with a after market...or go with the GTX260.

I'm using a 4890 right now, and it is quiet as hell.

Although, I seem to be the only guy using this card with trouble running Anti-Aliasing or any other CCC 3D setting. Even games with native AA support don't seem to be able to run AA.

It's pbly just me, but i'm seriously hating this card for this reason so far.

This or this.

I currently have two 4850s in Crossfire, but would recommend those two for around £200.

Yes, the 4890 is cheaper, and the performance difference will only be slight, but hey...

Ha, no definitive answer, just as i expected, no real leader right now between ATI & Nvidia?

Like the look of the 1800mb 260, i take its a good card to OC, and can go 275 speeds?

I'd be gaming at 1050, but hoping for a new tft round xmas time at 1200.

One thing that really puzzles me is that ATI on paper has the much better card for that price range, what are they doing wrong to make it slow down?

4890 Vs 275

1024mb Vs 896mb
GDDR5 vs GDDR3
GPU Clock: 850mhz Vs 633Mhz
Mem Clock: 3900mhz vs 2268mhz
processing cores: 800 vs 240

Really there should only be one winner but why in testing does the 275 come out on top most of the time? Crackers.

1 Nvidia SP is worth roughly 5 of ATI's

THATS were the difference
