Windows 7 hits RC stage Build 7100

Is the photo viewer noticeably slower than Vista/XP for anyone here?

if you install google picassa, the photo viewer on that is very quick (integrates to replace the windows one, without fully opening the picassa app)

loads very quickly even on my gf's old laptop :)

I've installed Windows 7 64 bit, messed with it for 6 hours, couldn't see what the fuss is an dgone back to XP Pro.
If it ain't broke don't fix it is my saying and I don't have problems with XP.

Woah a whole 6 hours?
"If it ain't broke don't fix it"? ... Yeah lets get MS to never make a new OS ever again, or new browsers, software etc. Lets all stick to that old insecure caveman OS. Infact, lets all use DOS and not make progress because it's such a bad thing.

Moron.

You can choose from one of three options. Combine, combine when the taskbar is full or not combined (as it is in Vista).

Win 7 RC 32 Bit

Have installed Win 7 with no problems, as for working still no problems.

However I have noticed if I go to "Computer" it only shows C, D, and DVD/Cd drives, no USB ports, these do show up in Device manager & Computer Management. If I plug something into one of the USB ports or card reader then that port shows up.

Strange, anyone else have this problem, or is it a problem ?.

That's how it always worked, why would it show empty ports otherwise?

This is a new function of Win7 for card readers (USB ports aren't necessarily drives, so have never shown up). Quite handy, as I have a 7 in 1 card reader on my work PC (XP) which shows up 4 constantly empty drives, much better that they disappear unless there's a card in them IMO.

I've got one of the early builds on an old laptop that I tried out a while back, im using Vista on my main machine at the moment (and im not a huge fan of it).

Am I good to download and go straight for the 7100 or am I best off trying it on a seperate HD and/or wait and see what happens?

(Any other helpful info worth noting would be appreciated as I've not studied W7 in detail just yet :p)

Also, whats the situation with activation etc?

Cheers

I really really really don't mean to be a bit of an ass, but all of the somewhat seriously basic stuff you are asking about is covered at length in this thread already.

Says I can't, am on the 7000 build

I could not from 7068, you have to edit a file in the image then it works fine.

Unsure what you have to edit though, current build it may be called? You change the build number in the file to your current build then it works.
