OcUK Poker Thread.

I always seemed to get people hitting miracle hands. Can't remember the exact hand but I had something like Q8 unsuited, limped in. Flop was Q84 all different suits, went all in as I was quite low on chips. Turn is 7, river is 6. Guy who called me was low on chips shows unsuited 10, 5. Why did he even call never mind get the hand.

lol it was a bit silly to go all in before the turn with a nut flush draw on the cards is it not? unless you were shortstacked and could't bring more chips in.

I was trying to stop then drawing by making the bet, but nobody can fold a flush draw online, and they alwyas catch it anyway.

ONLINE POKER IS RIGGED!!!!

Thanks for that.

It's amazing how some people get so lucky playing cash.

This guy kept raising with a weak ace so I played Kc Jc. He raised 5x BB EVERY time and hit. Flop came 9h-3c-10c so I checked expecting a bet, but he checked too. Turn comes a blank (5h or something) but I bet out with $2.30, he raises to $5 and I re-raise to $11, he calls. River comes 9c and of course he has the nut flush.

Going to stick to MTT's I think, SNG's are full of idiots and cash games have people like this.

It's only really a benefit if you play a decent volume online, but basically I'll have a 3.5x points multiplier for the rest of the year whereas I'd normally have 2x. When 5k points=$50 this'll work out well for me :)

Am I right in understanding that if you get 1,200 FPP in May, you'll get 60,000 added to your account, and you can use 10,000 of those to convert to $160 cash?! That seems like an awesome deal, and all the other benefits too. Gonna have to start working on this one!

Folding a flush draw + overcard would be a mistake for him in that hand, he has odds to call.

The bonus is 60k VPPs, not FPPs. VPPs change your VIP status on the site and thus affect how fast you earn FPPs. FPPs are used to buy items in the shop. Hence you can't use your shiny new VPPs to buy stuff.

Hey. This seems as good a place as any to ask. Could someone offer me a sound link to hold em tactics? I've played it enough that I tend to beat my mates, but didn't do much more than break even when playing online.
I've learnt not to play it drunk, and have a reasonably clear understanding of the rules. However, hold em tactics gets a scary amount of hits on Google, and I'm not really in a good position to evaluate which are worth looking at.
Help would be appreciated, cheers

POSITION, POSITION, POSITION.

Oh, I get you. Thanks!

It's still a good offer, as I've got a bonus pending and it'll release that a bit quicker. 40% of the way to it and another 50FPP til I get SilverStar so that helps.

As Moley said - Position. This really is critical. I've started learning to use position a lot better now and I'm winning more because of it.

Could buy a book for a few quid - try Harrington on Hold 'em or something by Doyle Brunson / Sklansky's books.

Best book for a beginner out there (by far imo) is No Limit Hold'em Theory and Practice by David Sklansky and Ed Miller.

Other good books include Theory of Poker by Sklansky, though the concepts and advice discussed are more general (Sklansky uses examples from draw, stud, and omaha to illustrate his points) still provide useful information.

Have to give this guy credit, he obviously put me on a hand and my god he had to get it spot on or he was out.

Blinds are 125/250, I have AK UTG, raise to 750, he re-raises to 2100.

I think he's got QQ but he's quite aggressive so I call.

Flop : A-K-K. - I check to him and he bets 3700 of his 13k stack, I call.
Turn : J - check, check.
River : 7 - check, check (bugger.)

He shows JJ, Jacks full.. and he CHECKED it down! Unreal.

why didn't you put a value bet in on the river? if he folds you get to keep him guessing on what hand you had and if he calls you get paid off. strange way to play that hand mate.

I know, it was dire looking back at it. I expected him to fire another bullet but he just checked it down. Strangely I was talking to a mate who was watching and I said "oh he's got JJ then" jokingly before the turn and when it came up I said "ok, maybe not" :D

Edit - ffs, got to 37k @ 600/1200 blinds, pushed with KK and a guy with 20k had AQ and flopped 2 pair. Grr.

Double edit - got the bugger back, pushed with 77 against his A5, he hit an ace but I hit a set :D

Top 81 got paid $100 minimum, pushed with AQ suited and someone had QQ. I hadn't played a hand for 45 minutes prior to that.

I'm NEVER playing AQ again as long as I ******* live.
