Reflective child labour pictures

Go to school? Not cripple themselves before they reach 25.

Makes me so mad that western consumers are apparently happy for this to go on as long as they can buy cheap clothes etc.

I dont think any one said they were happy
Its no different to the exploitation of child workers less than 100yrs ago in this country.
I feel for them but it shouldn't be our job to drag them out of the industrial age.

who will pay for that

International aid organisations. Something we never had when we were condemning this country's poor children to a lifetime of toil and poverty.

Thing is, unless you give these kids a chance, you're condemning that country to perpetual poverty. The Bangladeshi Albert Einsten could be rotting away in one of those brick factories for all we know.

The guy who wrote "more sex is safer sex" hit upon an interesting point of view. Basically, conditions in countries where there's extensive child labour are very similar to what the UK (and other western countries) was like a few hundred years ago - Parents sending their children to work because they need the money to be able to eat. The thing is, 'western' cultures like the UK pulled themselves out of their poverty and created the lifestyles and economy we have today without the help of any aid agencies.

I don't have a particularly strong view on the matter, but I think there's potentially a good question to be raised in exactly how much are aid agencies helping poor countries? Bangladesh's economy has been growing quite well for some time now, so child labour could potentially diminish and vanish over the next 50-100 years.

International aid organisations.

i could send you some PDF's if you want to read into this, i am actually revising for an exam on the topic of geopolitical influences of aid..

edit: i was suppose to say that international aid organisations are useless

that means nothing

Very sad.

We hear about this happening but it isn't until we see photographs then it become so real.

It is shocking that this still happens.

Don't feel guilty.

Paying for things made by child laborors does not make us responsible for their incredibly unfair treatment and exploitation, that is the fault of the country and system in which they live alowing it to go on.

Think about it this way, for a lot of them it's either this or dying on the streets. I know which I would prefer they were doing.

Obviousely I do no condone any of this, and my opnion on child labor is that it should not exist EVER, but feeling guilt because it does exist is unfair to yourself and honestly unfair to them.

Focus the blame on those who are truly responsible and try to do something about it, much more contructive than wallowing in guilt because at some point in your life you may or may not have bourght a bag made by a child.

WTF. Some of them had time to stop and pose for photos?? Not working hard enough tbh

and the factory boss just let some journalist guy in to take all these posed photos.....

the children are beeing exploited by there parents and also by the journalist who probably paid them a $ to post, and he probably bribed his way in to get the photos!

thread needs a "yo dawg i heard you liked exploitation so i exploited you while you were beeing exploited" xzibit image :P

I hate the way that people often try to strike a chord by use figures such as "[x] takes home only $8 a month". Am I the only one to think, well, in some places in the world that's enough? Currency figures can't be translated that loosely.

someone explain to me what that worlds smallest violin is suppose to mean?

Commonly prevelant attitude really. If a lot of people outwardly don't give a crap about certain issues in this country, then chances are they're not going to give a flying **** about something truely tragic thousands of miles away. Some like to express that fairly loudly. *shrugs*

Sad seeing those kids like that :(
Primark have been doing this for years thats why I WONT buy from them
