**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

I've said many times before that on a free transfer i'd take him back in a shot. Whatever we pay him in wages will be more than paid back from the added shirt sales etc (particularly in the far east) and he's still a handy player to have in your squad.

Unfortunately Rafa doesn't rate him and i can't see Owen coming back as 2nd or 3rd choice, if we sign another striker.

edit: Hopefully the Voronin to Hertha Berlin deal (reportedly for around £4-5m) will go through now. Hertha directors had previously said that the deal is dependent on Hertha getting into the CL and i've just had a look at the German league table and Hertha are 4th but only 1 point behind Bayern and Stuggart(sp) who play each other on the last day of the season with Hertha playing the bottom side (who are already relegated). So a Hertha win will mean a minimum of 3rd for them (could even win the league).

Handy in your squad as he would only be required to play 10-15 games a year. A disaster for ours considering that we have Vaughan and Saha who are injury prone already . The Yak and Anichebe who have taken bad knocks this year.

Can't afford another crock.

I heard some rumours that Macheda may be on his way to Goodison Park on loan next season. Most likely a load of rubbish, but how would you feel if it was true?

I cant see that happening - he will be a CC / early FA Cup striker next year or he will go abroad (which I cant see the point of at all for such a player already with a good build and touch)

He is way past his best and I doubt he would sell anywhere near as many shirts as he used to. His pace was his best asset and now that is gone he isn't as potent as he used to be. Worst mistake he made in his career was going to Madrid.

I wouldn't want him back, it's a sideways step and wouldn't offer anything other than marginally better cover than we have in N'gog.

I don't see any harm whatsoever in us signing him providing it's only as a squad player. Admittedly he's not as big a name as he once was but he's still big in the far east and it's reported that he's willing to take a wage cut so he's not going to cost us much if anything at all.

His strike rate earlier in the season and last season for Newcastle wasn't bad and with better players around him im sure he could still do a job. We need at least 1 if not 2 strikers this summer and I can't think who else we could get as that 2nd signing who could do a better job than Owen.

Good call - although as I think you said earlier, whether Benitez would see it the same way is altogether a different proposition

Over the moon tbh. Young hungry and keen to prove his worthy of a united first team place. Moyes clearly gets on well with fergie, I'd be happy and suprised. A dream loan for us that really.

I hope not. Everton fans on here whinge about the striking options but when they're all fit they have quite a selection (Yakubu, Saha, Vaughan, Anichebe). Even Cahill can play in and around that position. Wouldn't expect Macheda to get many games if he did go. He'd probably get more games staying with us.

Do any Liverpool fans know if Pacheco is any good? I read he signed for Liverpool after Barca didn't offer him a contract and people are now saying it may come back to bite Barca on the arse because they won't be able to complain a la Fabregas.

He'd get many games. Saha and Vaughan aren't ever fit enough to be able to hang your hat on them getting 10 games each. If Vaughan plays 15 prem games next year I will eat my keyboard. Anichebe before his injury was struggling this year and had his falling out with moyes.

He'd play almost every week with the Yak with the others making bench appearances. With the cruddy euro league thingy we need another forward that more reliable.

I dont see it happening but I'd sure as hell welcome him.

We signed him because Spanish law didn't allow him to sign a full time deal with Barca, they tried to sue us over it but failed.

He's hugely talented, techincally better than a lot of our first team squad but a little light weight. He played with the first team during pre-season and didn't look out of place. He's likely to be involved with the first team a lot more next season and i can't wait :D

Are you sure though? That's what I meant about Fabregas, Arsenal signed him because Barca couldn't. I read Barca didn't bother offering a contract to Pacecho and so it's their own fault he left.

Could be wrong though. :p

It's still the same. Spanish law doesn't allow players under a certain age to sign full time deals. Just had a quick google and in actual fact Barca tried to sue Pacheco over it rathe than us.

Hope he gets his chance but I was saying that about Anderson for years and look what's happened to him. Think Nemeth could go the same way. All that praise yet he's never been given a chance in the first team and he's already 20.

Nemeth signed then was out injured for first half of last season, came back and was incredible for the reserves. It's been suggested that he would have featured in the Cups this season but again he was injured a lot in the first half of the season and then went out on loan and got injured on his debut.

According to Nemeth, he trains with the first team now rather than the reserves so it's possible he might get a run out vs Spurs and im sure (along with Pacheco) that he'll gradually be brought into the fold like Insua has this season.

As for Anderson, i've felt for a while that like Hobbs, he wouldn't make the grade.

Of all our youngsters we've got coming through, the ones that have a chance of making it with us are; Ince (yes, Paul's son), Amoo, San Jose and Darby and in particular; Dalla Valle, Buchtmann, Nemeth and Pacheco.

edit: and the 2 keepers; Gulacsi and Bouzanis (reportedly a greek side has already offered £1m for him).
