MONACO Grand Prix 2009 - Race 6/17 Official GP Thread

I could have sworn someone had already had a grid demotion because of an engine change

Vettel has had one for that crash in melbourn and bot the toyotas have started from the pits with the rear wings (and glock a different weekend with a gearbox change i think)

Did it just end? cause I'm waiting for the whole re run to be uploaded. (Just finished work and arrived home :( )

Lol - who caught the last shot of the practice?

Could have been better, she was laying on them :( and the view was obscured. Had my first chance to watch practise on the red button all the way through, coverage is pretty good. The 2 commentators did have a habit of talking things up. Discussing Kubica and his problems then watching his engine blow. Discussing the issue of traffic and then cutting to Massa and one of the Force India's having a waving fit at each other. Good to see Rosberg keeping with tradition, now all he has to do is translate that into qualifying and the race.

I can see why people prefer the combo of Davidson and whomever in 1st Practise - far better than Leggard...

ps3ud0

I see Hamilton is pushing hard. But dont be fooled by this. He is one of only a few drivers who want to be fastest at all times. These days, most drivers are content to be last place in practise sessions that dont count for much and then turn it on in qualifying - I expect this to be the case in Saturday's qualfiying.

Hamilton probably is one of the last true racers out there, who just want to be fastest at all times, if only to massage his HUGE ego and show all the other drivers that he is NO.1. And THAT is why he is my favourite driver.

I was going to say somethink about Raikkonen's relative performance but then I noticed it was sunny outside and got distracted thinking about how I quite fancy an ice cream.

but then compare his [Hamilton] placing in these two sessions with him in practice of the other races.

Indeed. And this has a lot to do with the fact that it is a drivers' circuit. Come Saturday qualifying though, you can bet that he will slip down the ranking, not because he is taking it easy, but because other drivers are now trying harder.

Ferrari and Mclaren have done well this weekend, could be interesting.

The last race weekend started out fairly brightly for Ferrari as well, so I'm really not going let my hopes get too high :)

I'm sure they'll find some way to screw it up, probably fail to let both cars get out and qualify this time....

True, it will either go smoothly and they'll get a few points or a new benchmark of cockupness will occur :)

God that ice cream joke is way beyond boring. What 100 odd GPs and we have seen him eat an ice cream once. Its become a Ocuk fad like 'claimed' and nuke it.

Red Bull win this weekend and a Jenson DNF. Rubens 2nd.

Drivers circuit? Maybe once not really anymore which is why Trulli and DC managed a win there and fisi has always done well.

They used to call it a drivers circuit because a bad car could win there, that hasn't really happened in years. Its no longer the great leveller, the best car romps it usually.

Why have you gone for Red Bull out of interest?

I'll go for a Hamilton win I think, he seems to be on a different level at this track.
