CV gimmicks

Are you in the graphic design/creative industry? If not, then it'll be a bit risky. Should have your name replacing that huge Hello. as it does look a bit like junk mail. Change the phrase a bit as well so people will know you are serious.

IMO it's fine/good for business cards to be gimmicky, but not CVs. Whilst it gets your attention, it doesn't give the impression you take yourself very seriously.

No, I'm at University but I interned for two years with a creative agency. I'm just doing the whole part-time retail routine at the moment, to get me through uni but I'm after something with a bit more money than my current position.

If you were a (graphic) designer I would certainly open it, it's eye catchy, refreshing to look at and gives a hint at the possible talents without opening it., but I'm not sure if a 100y/o prestigious lawyer company would open it.

If I saw it, I'd be quite intrigued and open it. But if what was inside didn't match up to the presentation of the outside, ie a poorly laid out, bland CV, I'd bin it within 30 secs.

If your CV is still poor it won't help you get the job. You can't polish a turd!

Very mixed opinions here!

My CV does match, infact the envelope is based around the typography on the CV. My CV has also been reviewed by two mates in management who likey!

I believe it shows innovation, It's different. I think it would also stop anyone from throwing away the CV that's for sure, As you'd be interested, Which is the whole point isn't it.

Yeah, trying to read the page behind it and it does look like a bloody good CV - none of the boring usual crap. Would you mind sending me it (minus personal details etc)? I'd love to take a look at how you have done it.
