Do people still play LOTRO?

Downloading now - hope to see some of you on there!

Anyone give a quick rundown for someone just starting out in the world of MMORPGs? :o

I'll do a search and read through any old threads too :)

I started a few weeks ago oddly enough :) Have a 27 loremaster and a 19 minstrel, on another server tho sadly :) Liking the game so far, though there are a few complaints, which someone coming from wow may/may not agree with..

I find the interface on the game quite clunky, and you can only reskin it, there are no mods allowed (I miss my mods damnit!:)).
My eyes are going abit, and at my systems native resolution the ui is at times quite hard to see.. They provide a ui scale slider which lets you increase the size of the ui elements but when you slide this up then the ui quality goes out of the window and it gets really jagged and pretty rubbish, also some ui elements seem to not align properly when the scale is increased..

Minor things indeed, and the rest of the game does make up for them.. Met some really decent people so far too , there seem to be less idiots than on wow, though maybe thats just person perception.

Edit: I have a couple of those 14 day trial keys lying around if anyone wants one too..

Would type more... but want to play now =D Any others on Laurelin who don't mind having a chat, just message me/ add to friends - my name is Meledrielle.

My 54 Minstrel is on Laurelin, I will add you to my friends list incase you ever need help doing any of the epic storyline quests.

I'll add you tonight too. My main is a 48 hunter - Telrian, and I have a 29 minstrel called Grimbriar and an 8 loremaster called Grimbane or Grimborn or something :)

Plan on starting a captain too at some point if anyone starting wants some company.

I'd be glad of some company - though bare in mind I may well be rubbish for the first few hours :)

No mate, someone pointed out to me there's more chance of seeing a flying saucer land on the Loch Ness monster's head, I stopped playing Lotto after this deflating news :D

So does anyone know if you can get a launcher to download the trial from or is it just a 7gb file I need to download?

Been meaning to try LOTR for ages - how does it run on Windose 7?

Signed up for the trial (10 day?) and downloading the huge 7GB client now.

Game runs perfectly on win7 for me mate :) I noticed the difference going from xp to 7 as it enables the directx10 options.. The shadows and water affects seem a lot better, especially the shadows.

Can you start and stop that download if you need to?

If you used some sort of download manager, I don't see why not. Some browsers may even let you do this already.

Thanks for the adds, hopefully talk to a few of you later :)

Thought I'd also share two nice stories from yesterday...

1. I was wandering around, and came across a level 60 and did a obligatory /salute , and that person got off their horse, buffed me and said hello :)

2. Was walking in town, and some random person came up and offered to trade me a good robe, didn't have loads of money but I gave him a few silver, even though he initially offered it for free.

Some nice people out there :)

Bleh, download finished last night but I ran out of space on my Windows 7 installation, resized the partition from a LiveCD and now it won't boot... gotta love BootCamp :D

Are most people on Laurelin here?

Signed up through here, 14-day trial.

Is it possible to have different alts on a single account or do i have to pay per alt like WoW? As i have no clue on which class to try so would be nice to try a few first off.

Cheers :)
