as the title said i just got a sound blaster x-fi extreme gamer and bl**dy hell it makes a difference over onboard to my music and counter strike source.
sorry i just had to tell someone:D

I have the same card. Makes you wonder why you put up with onboard doesn't it? Some people will tell you that onboard is just as good as a dedicated card but it's simply not true.

Have to say I'm one of those people that think the onboard sound is fine - used to have an Audigy 2 when it came out, and it was great.. but since getting my new rig I've been using onboard and it sounds pretty good.

But starting to look forward to getting a Xonar D2 now - need positional audio for headphone otherwise I probably wouldn't have thought about it. But should be interesting to see how much different it is :D

:D just the same way I felt when I first tried it m8 .... first game in BF2 I was gettin shot left right and centre listening to everything in the distance echoing around me :D

ahh brings back memorys from when i did the same.. i thought my onboard was fine until i got the xfi ...

stunning difference if slighty annoying that the xfi didnt have 5.1 optical out.. and they just decided to add it to the next version. :(

Guys, it can't make that much difference can it?!
I've never heard a system with a decent sound card to be fair so I wouldnt know.
But onboard sound comes with 'Home theater quality 8-channel High Definition Audio' sound nowadays so I just assume its pretty decent sound comming from the onboard.
Is it worth the extra money? I need to be converted....

think of it as a tesco value high definition screen vs a samsung one..

they're both high def, but you know which one you want :p

Tesco one tbh, better customer service and probably less fatal problems and buggy software.

If you said panasonic on the other hand.

Lol.

But its not tesco, its Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R, worth £160, it shouldn't need an aftermarket Sound Card to sound amazing :(
Basically I just dont wanna spend money,. Lol.
