its just a habit. im breathing while they walk past and suddenly i feel the need to breath through my noes. Im just annoyed at people who tend to stare at you.

If you are a big powerful guy it could be that you make other men nervous, hence the sniff. Another sign that you have made someone nervous is that they briefly touch their nose, so if the sniff is accompanied by that, it could well be you are making them nervous. Personally I find body language quite interesting too.

Also on the nervous subject, maybe you subconsciously do things like seeming to stare at people or walk in a confident way.... Or maybe swine flu is spreading faster than we thought
