**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Thats a great price imo, good signing for Fulham for that kind of money.

Definitely.

I would've thought we'd go for another £10m striker, but i guess AJ can only score more than he did. Or, we're selling someone and hes the cheaper backup.

I reckon we'll be working on probably around £15m or so, maybe a tad more, and needing probably 8 more players at least really.

Another good centre mid, another winger would be very helpful. Huddlestone would suit us very well.

Liverpool need to start thinking about replacing carragher. Imo, I don't think skrtel is good enough and now with hyypia gone our defence will look weak, especially if carra stops performing and agger gets injured again.

Hmm, mixed reports about Adebayor. I'm thinking that he maybe told the press he wants to stay at Arsenal so that Wenger can push for a higher transfer fee when the day comes, much like he's told people to shut up about the real sum in the coffers.

It's a rubbish signing for any money, he's ****.

In your opinion maybe. In my opinion he is better than many other players I see being bought for a lot more than 1.5 million. Time will tell if the 1.5mil proves to be a decent investment. I think it will be, you think it wont. Thats the wonder of the interwebz :)

If Villa struggle to make the top 5 next season, it will be down to teams pushing for the top 5/6 playing better.

Villa have done very well this season, Barry is replaceable, I still don't understand all the love he gets, he's a decent midfielder. Nothing more. Get as much as you can for him, bring in a couple of players.

Laursen is a tough player to replace, he's easily one of the better players Villa have, and will be tough to replace.

I don't think Villa will be any worse off next year provided they do get a quality replacement for Laursen, a right back and a few good (Better than Knight and Harewood) Squad players. I can't see Barry going as i don't honestly think there is another epl team that needs him who are a better proposition than Villa. With a fuller squad we'd have probably got 4th, certainly 5th.

They have some excellent young players coming through (Brennan, Delfouneso et al) who need to be supplemented by some intellegent signings for squad players. There is nothing much wrong with the first XI.

I think Zat Knight will leave. Harewood will leave. Shorey possibly, though i hope not. Bouma coming back will be like a new signing. We need a proper right back.

There was talk in the local press of Mellberg coming back, and if it turns out to be true it would be great.

Barcelona are poised to offer £40m for Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
(Full story: Sunday Mirror)

No!

As much as I do like Barcelona, Fabregas belongs at the Grove.

I can't see Fabregas leaving to be honest.

Barcelona's midfield options are like this at the moment:

-------Keita/Toure/Busquets---------
----------------------------------------
------Xavi-----------Iniesta----------

With one of those back three tending to fill in if Xaxi or Iniesta is injured.

So Fabregas would be competing with Xavi and Iniesta for starting spots.

He wouldn't play in the defensive role of the three as that is reserved for big lads who can make crunching tackles, hence Keita/Toure/Busquets.

Fabregas is a playmaker and he's able to play both CM and DM - Wenger has proven this.

Looking at it objectively, Fabregas would be an absolutely brilliant asset to Barcelona. I have no doubt he would fit in there perfectly. However, as an Arsenal fan, I cannot bare to see him go - he's too central to our team at the moment. I would love to see Fabregas mature to legendary stature much like Henry did, wearing Arsenal colours.
