Show Us Your Cockpit

His project was all about parallels between real life and computer games, so he was taking shots of people in real situations then making them look as game like as possible. Hence the stylized motion blurring and me wearing a gaming headset. Looked pretty cool, I thought.

Ah, was thinking you had found a way to plug it into your phone or something. :p

lol no :D. I did feel a bit of a prat though, we were driving around town trying to get the right shots, me wearing a gaming headset, him sitting in the back with his laptop and a camera set up on a tripod in the boot behind the back seats. Anyone who saw us must have wondered wtf was going on :p

Technically still got it unfortunately.

Just bought a new car so thought I would post some pics up, they are from the ad as I haven't had time to take any decent ones yet.

Such a huge difference to the '02 Ibiza I was driving for the last 18 months, nothing rattles, very comfy for long journeys, the Ibiza got quite tiring on motorway trips. Can't believe the stock speaker system either, masses of bass and very loud, was contemplating changing the HU but dont think I will bother now.

BTW it's an '02 A4 2.0 SE, small birthday present to myself for next week :)

^^ Those are some shiny leathers! I would recommend a Dokto Power magic eraser for the steering wheel though, will make it look much nicer.

Better cockpit pic than the last one

For a 2001 design the E46 sport cabin looks and feels like it could belong in a new car today :p

i dunno, i think it's starting to look dated, although not to the extent of the e39

looking at fox's E39 on the opening page, which is very similar to the E46, it really does show that it's a 15 year old design..

I much prefer the interior of the E39 to that of the E46, IMHO, although to say either could be 'in a new car today' is rather daft.

Oh and..

The E46 interior was designed in 1996-1997 and released a short time later in 1998, about 2 years after that of the E39. This is why they are so similar, although this particular 'style' of BMW interior actually dates back to 1994 and the E38.

The T steering wheel, sports seats etc all came in 2001 didn't they.

By the latter statement I mean it looks as modern as you'd expect design wise as in it doesn't look like bits of light plastic here or there like many new cars - plastic door release levers for example or light weight knobs and buttons - everything, like your e39 has a weighty feel to it.

Not mine but hey, it's a piece of history and it used to belong to a very good friend.

Sorry about the green look. Building roof lights give that tint I'm afraid.

This might be a silly question but whats the DIN(ish) sized gizmo at the bottom of the dash? The heater controls are under the stereo, cant think what it would be... some sort of trip computer?

Indeed, the "OBC" - on board computer. :)

Ah - looks remarkably vintage these days!

Surely that does more than modern trip computers with all those buttons?

Not really, it gives you the time, date, fuel consumption, outside temp, range, trip time and various "check control" warnings such as low coolant etc.

It also beeps just prior to the hour, incase you can't read the clock I suppose!
