**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Awesome :D I'd love to see Kaka here and, other than Arsenal (where I think he'd fit very well) Chelsea is the best place for him.

I hope they sign him, but that is purely because I would like to see the worlds best footballers in the English leagues. Would much prefer it to arsenal, but I think we all know that wont happen.

Where's he going to play? They're not going to drop Lampard to accommodate him and they both occupy the same space on the pitch. Will be a massive waste of £73.5 million and a completely unnecessary signing.

Your just saying that because you don't want Chelsea to sign him. :p

Doesn't bother me if they do or not. I don't think he'll improve their team and if they move Lampard to accommodate him will probably weaken them.

Given the lack of quality United have in the centre he'd be an ideal singing for them.

Just reading Hargreaves knees might not have much football left in them at all and is doubtfull for the start of the season. Manu really need to spend some money on some more midfield options. Especially with Giggs and Scholes so clearly past playing at the very top.

Bayern must be laughing their backsides off.

Did you notice the article is all "if's , buts and maybe's" ?

Still think we got a bargain whatever happens as OH was significant in the double last season (esp CL win)

£18m is small price to pay

I thought he was already out til xmas?

Nah the feeling was he would be back for the start of the season, atleast the Manu fans on here expected it as they said he would be like getting a new signing for next year.

Yeah I noticed them, it must have great concern though if after all this time he's still struggling :(

It says he's only had 25 starts in nearly two years. Sad really because he could have been a useful player for england as well.

God I hope Chelsea sign Kaka!

I'd love to see Kaka in the Premier League, he's an incredible talent. I hope Chelsea get him. Chelsea play with a five man midfield anyway, so it would be him, Lampard and Essien, with someone on the right (?) and Cole on the left with one up front.

I'm really worried about Hargreaves though, it hasn't looked good for a while, it cannot be cured and he must be in some pain and discomfort if he can't even train properly. The operations were to ease the pressure he feels and prolong his career. I'd be gutted if he was forced into early retirement due to injury. He's exactly the player we could do with in the middle of the park alongside Carrick on a regular basis.

So much for Kenyon's future vision of breaking even. :D

To be fair I think it was mainly me hoping he would be back - and IF he does make it back fully it will be like a new signing (after being out over a year)

Yes and no - considering the seriousness of the operations and the type of injury , he was never going to be pain free straight after the ops anyway (and that they had to be done completely seperately, and the surgeon broke his arm skiing or something delaying at least one op)

Yeah most of those where 07/08 as well, he has about 26 appearances in total the season before last, He is probably the best holding midfielder England have and he is a pretty decent right winger and right full back too

Spot on - the more reports I read the worse it sounds (Im just trying to be optimistic)

I have to admit though, I would HATE having Kaka in the EPL , for all the reasons you just stated hahaha Chelsea would be unstoppable (Lampard is pretty damned good - Essien is a monster and with Kaka - might as well give them the EPL if that happens)

I've remained optimistic up until now, I hope it's all wrong though and just precaution talk. I know there would be compensation from an early retirement but I can't imagine how devastated he would be retiring from football at his age.

The thing with Chelsea is that they've had an incredibly strong midfield for years now, very hard to dominate and break down. It would be great to see how well a player like Kaka could do in the EPL even though he'd be at a title rival.

Debatable. I can't remember one single decent game Carrick and Hargreaves had when playing together. The best we saw of Hargreaves was when he played alongside Anderson, part of a three man midfield or on the right.

Stupid money tbh. Why oh why spend £73.5m on him plus insane wages when you'd get three amazing players for that money, not TOTALLY destabilize an already fragile group of pretentious, over-paid idiots with them all wanting £200k a week and still win the league. The best buy of the summer will be Owen on a free and a pay-as-you-play deal. Even for Chelsea.

Indeed, I think Ando, Carrick and Hargreaves is pretty much our ideal midfield 3 at the moment.

To be fair they never really had any run of games playing together. On paper Carrick and Hargreaves is the best midfield partnership. Carrick needs to get back onto his attacking game and leave defensive duties to someone else.
