Looks very promising, Vertex Indilinx controller with cheaper (slower) NAND flash. 185MB/s Read, 100MB/s Write.

If they get the price right (I'm thinking £115-£120 for a 60GB version, they'll need to undercut the pb22-j's), these will fly off the shelves.

Affordable performer

OCZ has silently posted the new Agility Series on its web site. This new series will apparently be a performance part for the mainstream segment of the market and will be available in 30, 60 and 120GB capacities.

The new drive has 64MB of cache and have read and write speeds of up to 185MB/s and 100MB/s with the 60MB/s of sustained write for the 30GB version, while the 60 and 120GB version will be a bit faster with read and write speeds of up to 230 and 135MB/s and 80MB/s of sustained write. According to our info the new Agility series will keep the Indilix controller previously seen on Vertex series, but it will have a bit slower NAND chips.

The Indilix controller and cheaper NAND combo will make the new Agility about 10 percent cheaper than the Vertex Series. As you can see from the read and write speeds, its performance is also a bit slower when compared the the Vertex and it lacks the 250GB version.

The new Agility Series SSDs should hit retail sometimes during this month and we are quite sure that it will be quite popular due to its price/performance ratio.

Mmm, this looks to be a very good mix of performance and ££'s - and if add in the class leading OCZ support I think you are right Zarf, these will sell out fast!

With the right price I will be buying 2 of these for a secondary DATA raid. They need to get the price right!
