Ebay seller account query

Not even then. Find me somewhere else with such a massive audience where you can sell so easily and cheaply... good luck with that.

You’re not the person I cancelled on by any chance? or an EBay staff member? Never seen someone go on the defensive like this!

yes it was, but as you clearly dont read what I post I will tell you again. The final listing fee has never been as high as this therefore i was not expecting the cost of the auction to go from £4.19 to £9.19 hence the reason for me cancelling the sale, Hindsight is a wonderful thing because if I had checked the final value fee changes before listing i would have seen this and reduced the bling on my auction.

It tells you when you start selling something what the final valuation will be as an estimate, with a breakdown of the listing fee and the final valuation fee.

Well becase ebay is a great place to both buy and sell. I've been a member for over 9 years now and only had a couple bad deals. All of them were taken care of by paypal though.

Just get sick of all the nonsense spouted about ebay. I'm a long-time seller.

Fair enough, I am nto a long time seller so forgive my ignorance about it all. I have emailed the buyer twice and told ebay that I am not satisfied with the end result. Its up to them to either A. Contact the buyer and tell him that the deal is off or B. Credit the £5 as a guesture of good will. If they go for B then the goods get sent.

Either way I think i will stick to Members Market from now on.

List carefully is the moral of the story. Ebay has a massive audience and a decent infrastructure for accepting payment. Yes it's quite expensive but so what? They are a business. I list things between free and 40p and I feel that appropriate, you no longer need massive gallery and picture packs imho.

ebay will not do B. If you refuse to complete the sale you are actually breaking contract law and could technically be taken to court although you won't be over £50. You will get a mark against your ebay account which can mean suspension, and could get a negative from the buyer though.

It is not the buyer's fault, I would sell to him, take this on the chin, protect your ebay account and put it down to experience.

yeah only just noticed this other day... sold something for £250 , paypal took £9 ebay took £29 not impressed lol

Even after fees, I get more on ebay than on MM here. So up to you to list properly to minimise fees and make sure your listing is attractive.

I dislike the fact you are forced to accept PayPal on a sale, which is something I'd rather not have. I also dislike the fact you now have to manually change each time on PayPal to use your credit card instead of your bank account if you want to pay something then 'grey out' the are you sure button. If you remove said bank account then I am unable to withdraw funds.

Don't quote me on this, but I'm also sure PayPal aren't a regulated financial body which means they can pretty do much what they want with funds that they hold in your name.

Yep, got to agree with both of those.
You can't even not accept PayPal when the buyer wants to/has to collect the item, leaving you, the seller, with no protection as there is no proof of delivery!

And always defaulting to my bank account is damned annoying!

Make it very clear in you're listing that its cash on collection or collection isn't available. Ebay does not close those listings. Some idiot might pay via paypal but just refund him and if he's being annoying you have to take the negative feedback hit.
