My new £5000 pc build

When i was 16......I had the choice.... spend £2500 on a pc, or spendd £1000 on a pc, then keep the rest in the bank.

I went for the bank and pc, and tbh, couldnt have done it anybetter :D

would you 1k is nothing for a full system. If it was just the base unit then fair enough. but all peripherals as well?

If you think £1000 is nothing then you obviously enjoy a higher income than me .... £1000 would get me a more than adequate pc for my needs :)

Lol. i'd spend a grand and the rest on beer and loose women. :D:D

Did that now my missus frowns when I suggest it

As another 15 year old here, I would MUCH rather spend the money on my education, ie. save up for the future, rather than building a £5000 PC without much knowledge. An i7 975, for any build, let alone first, let alone having no experience in overclocking?

Sorry, but I call BS.

Personally I think AcidHell2's post is the most constructive direction to move this thread in.

Lets move on from our gaming friend. Maybe he spent 5K, maybe he didn't. Good for him either way.

Here is a new question.

If you DID have £5000 to spend on a new PC.

What spec would you choose?

For your needs maybe for a gamer I cant see it. keyboard and mouse £70
24" min monitor £200, speakers £100+ for anything half reasonable.

It's not that 1k is not a lot of money. it's that 1k does not get you a whole system.

Right here's where I am lost why do you need speakers and why does a keyboard and mouse have to cost £70 ....... my needs are as a gamer and I dont need anything like that ......... you have to remember that you dont need top of the line equipment to enjoy anything you do ............. I'm happy with my pooter it does everything I need it to and I'm certain that with a grand in my pocket I could build a gaming pc that would more than make me happy :) .......... and that would be a whole system :)

why do you need speakers? for sound games, videos are pretty crap without them.

even getting cheap keyboard mouse your sill looking 40-50.

No you don't need top of teh line components. But at 1k you wont even get mid range.

coolers, cases, peripherals, psus all cost a fair bit and people forget just how expensive it is to build a system.

I dont normally get involed in threads like these but if 1 bit is true then:

A) I can tell you one thing if my family were hard up and i worked all hours to get 5k i would spend a some to build a nice pc as reward, but if my folks were that hard up not to buy my a b'day pressie for 12yrs i would gladly give 3k to them to pay the bills. Im a dad myself what kind of parent says yeah go ahead spend 5k on a pc at 16...buy a car to get to school with.

B) and the more likely your 16 yes your hard up and your still asleep and a troll :p

I AM GOING TO MAKE THIS VERY CLEAR, TO ALL OF YOU WHO THINK THIS IS "fake". just because you do not have the money to get a 4k pc then don't hate on me please, i worked 2 years don't you lot understand 2 years and my uncle gave it to me as a gift my uncle knew he could get it for more but i needed a cpu so he just gave me his after i get my Intel core i7 975 i will sell my cpu on ebay to get my money back and if any left over i will give it to my uncle! also i will post the vid on youtube because i bought a HD 720p Toshiba camilio camcorder just for the purpose of unboxing's, the build itself and also if i get stuck i might post a vid on youtube to ask you guys to help me,

also the reason i bought 3 months befor i will build it because i had the moeny to buy it so i did i know it is kinda stupid but please do not hate on if i wasted the money i know i did wrong i amm sory guys i know i could got it cheaper with same performance please i do not want to hear it i just cant give back the stuff can i ?

by the way i am a c grade student in my school my english is fine i tend to make a lot of typing errors soory!

and also what are spacers????? why is it so important to keep case metal separate from mobo and don't those spacers go into the screw holes so how am i going to screw my mobo in?? and about the solid state drives they are 2.5 inch can my case support that the reason i went with velociraptor is because i know they would fit in to my case, and what is the advantages of having a solid state drive and are they better than my velociraptor?

SSDs are a lot better than the raptors. They are silent for starters and much better performance. You can buy adapter to fit them in 3.5" bays. If this is real you really should have posted the spec here first before buying.

So frustrating seeing this much money spent on these components (if it is real)

Oh jeez please tell me this is a joke.

1) I thought you said you paid your uncle £300 for it, now you are saying he gave it to you as a gift.

2) So you purchased a HD camcorder so we can see in HD that you wasted your money....omg lolz

3)Atleast you know that for once you wasted money by buying the stuff 3 months before you need it......thats a start atleast. :D

4) Your building a £5k pc and you dont know what spacers are...oh dear.

That it all. :(

He's also putting Norton on it.

:eek::confused::(

i'm glad someone picked this up i've been reading through and thinking please someone tell him not to get norton on it

good luck with your build but i totaly have to agree with other comments water for a first build is a big mistake i've been building for years (10+) and have gone for water a couple of times but with coolers these days you don't really need it and you don't have the problem of if the pump fails like it did on mine you won't have coolent spraying all over your very expencive new pc

oh and btw a good replacement for norton is zonealarm been using it for years and has never let me down
