Holiday, car or Home.

Why did you marry her if it wasn't because you love her so much you'd stop at nothing to make her dreams come true?

Why does this thread even exist? What sort of a man honestly would rather have a CONSERVATORY than help his wife realise a life ambition?

When you have ben married for 15+ years other things take over priority in ones life.
Children for example.

In answer to your question none within two to three years, after that it's anyone's guess.

I am 43 years old & still cannot imagine spending 7 grand on a plastic greenhouse to stick on the back of my house, Have a word with yourself man !!!

I am 49 and can.

But with good reason, my life is probably shorter than yours so i want the money spent right.

Then ask the kids what they want.

However if you're saying after 15 years other things take priority over your wifes life long dream then meh.

Just my opinion though and I totally understand everyone and everyone's circumstances are different.

All the more reason to see and do anything you can in my eyes. And also in my eyes if you've not been to the US then give it a try, I personally love it and have spent far too much over the past 12 months on going which included our wedding. Probably not far off 3 conservatorys worth lol.

Well of course, life takes over all our dreams,

I would put them in this order
1. Car
2. Holiday
3. Home

The reason being i need a car more than i need a holiday although i could do with a holiday the car i more important.

I would like a holiday so i would at least felt i have enjoyed the money

The conservatory can wait.

How do i achieve this without denying my wife what she wants, ie convince her that a conservatory is best all round.

Put a tent in the conservatory and pretend to be camping somewhere tropical. :p

Do the holiday thing man and have some fun.

I've never liked conservatories, too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. Plus you have all the stress of getting the thing built.....uhh i'm getting tired just thinking about it. :D

This is a non-starter for me, take your wife, hell if its really what she wants spend the whole 7k on the holiday if it was me. You (by which I mean anyone not just you) could be dead tomorrow, atleast the holiday leaves something good to remember, I bet she wouldnt look back on the conservatory with any fondness.

Just my opinion.

Hawker

Maybe you could shop around for a new mortgage and take out a little extra for a proper conservatory/extention. Then the Holiday and car could be done with the cash.

lol at the OPs user name.

Go on holiday man, my Dads side of the family took us to Florida in 1996 I think it was. My nan still talks about it and the memories are still with me.

Your kids will love it and so will your wife and that should make you happy.

Also in my mind travelling to new places and seeing new things is always the best way to live.

Life, yes. Conservatorys, no.

It's thanks to my late father that I was able to go and get married over there and have the best holiday ever at the same time by using all of what I was left for it.

Out of the 3 choices to spend the money one, of them is something which will realise your wife's life long dream, and it won't even use up all the money.

It's just a reference to me being retired, so i need moremoney, contrary to what most people on gd think, but so what.

I am a bit older than you, so i have to think harder about my money.

Holiday. You only live once and your funeral will be pretty boring if your wife has to talk about your conservatory as opposed to her dream holiday!
