It wasn't that there was enough to vote for BNP, they did worse than they did previously, it was that your labour voters who had given up on it all and didn't vote for anyone else that caused them to get a seat. Evil succeeding, good men doing nothing etc 
That is exactly the problem, a lot of people who previously voted for Labour did not turn out in this election... it wasn't that they all voted for other parties, they just didn't bother -- now we have BNP who with the votes they have now would have gone nowhere otherwise, are getting seats off the back of this phenomenon.

Azagoth, it was only in the North that that sort of scum got elected, the rest of the country is educated enough to not vote for these ugly people apart from a few misguided souls, and in those regions the BNP didn't get elected thank god.

Plus, how on earth is the BPA comparable to the BNP, one is supporting a group of individuals in order to eradicate discrimination and promote equality between races, the other is supporting the repatriation of non-British/European races/nationals and thus discriminating their very existence in this country. I find it absolutely mind boggling when anyone uses 'well isn't the BPA racist' as some kind of bullet proof justification for the BNP.

The BNP were getting around 7-10% in northern regions and 4-5% in the south. So yes, not only northerners, a worrying number of votes elsewhere.

As for the BNP... the mainstream parties have continually failed to address the problems caused by multi-culturalism. When they face up to that seriously, the BNP will wither and die back to its hardcore roots. That day can't come soon enough for me.
In the short term though I'm pleased Nick Griffin got elected. Now we'll see and hear him more often and more people will get a chance to realise what a complete muppet he is.
