The all encompassing BNP thread - keep all crap in here.

 how are they trying to silence them, this is democracy at work. they aren't trying to ban them.

So not doing what you say. they aren't trying to silence anyone. just to inform the public. Because most people as shown in this thread. do not know BNPs fundamental racist policies as shown in their own publications.

Not trying to silence them... okay, how are they letting him be heard, when they are chanting over him speaking and throwing eggs at him?

Mate, don't embarass yourself.

You made it out like they are trying to get BNP banned they are not. I'm certainly not embarrassing myself.

nope (well assuming haven't seen the article) they did what every protest does.
And you haven't even posted that event in the post I quoted.

Silencing to me means a ban, not a large protest.

Isn't it odd that the self-styled 'anti-fascists' attack Nick Griffin, who criticises our two illegal wars under Labour and wants to pull our forces out, but doesn't give the same treatment to Labour who are responsible for those illegal wars, and lying about WMDs etc.

Their violent attack meant Nick Griffin had to stop speaking and his message was not heard.

They silenced him.

To say otherwise is foolish.

No, it's not. He had a right to speak and they should have let him speak before voicing their opposition. For what it's worth, I think the police should have stopped this from happening.

+1

It's hypocritical to slate the BNP as fascists and then attempt to prevent them from airing their message.

I don't support the BNP nor did I vote for them last week, but watching people hurl eggs at someone in this manner doesn't sit well with me.

If people don't agree with what they stand for then they should work at providing feasible political solutions to the problems the BNP are trying to address and/or appear to create.

The BNP has been supported by a fair proportion of the electorate and therefore should be respected. Unless we want to make further mockery of our already tarnished democracy...

Should have just let the BNP have their say. The more they actually say, the more stupid they look, especially when questioned by some of the media's sharper interviewers.

I don't see why we should necessarily respect a party simply because they get 6% of the vote. Maybe I've gt the wrong end of the stick and you meant respect the democratic process?

Ok found don't agree with the eggs. But that is a normal protest. should have expected that and had more security. Just like everyone else does that thinks they will be picketed.

Is he silenced? No
Can he still do chats = yes
Can he still do press conferences = yes
can he still go tv = yes

I see no silenced and tehy are using their democratic right to protest. half these arguments about tehm not ceing democratic is stupid. they aren't banning the BNP from doing anything.

Oh and why did your post include names like cameron, they where not their as far as i could see. So why are you saying they are trying to silence them. they are supporting a cause. not silencing anyone.

The egg throwing was wrong (though just as amusing as when Mandelson got green custard thrown in his face). However if you are having a press conferance in a public place then a bunch of people turning up and shouting/chanting counter views is well within the boundries of free speech.
