Following on from this thread, a new petition has been started this morning and is gathering signitors at quite a pace.

If you agree please sign it. As O2 are taking **** with their upgrade and tethering fees.

I agree that O2's prices in general are insane these days. However, they're a company in a competitive market. If you don't like their prices, take your business elsewhere. Pounds speak louder than petitions.

Yep agree about taking your money elsewhere, but if you want an iPhone your stuck with O2 :( I personally wont be upgrading my iPhone 3G before the contact is finished (another 6 months to go).

If the petition gets more publicity o2 might at least take note?

There is a reasonable way to get an upgrade.

Wait until your contract period that you signed is up.

After you get the v3 software upgrade, there is not that much difference from what I can see.

I have 12 months left on my iPhone 3G contract and don't expect a cheap way to get out of it for at least another 10 or 11 months. I'm pretty sure the only reason there was a cheap upgrade from the original iPhone to the 3G was due to (most) people having paid full whack for the original and then receiving a subsidised 3G. That said as Apple are on a 12month release schedule it would be good if O2 offered 12month contracts.

The tethering prices though are rediculously expensive, I used to pay £5/mo extra on T-Mobile to be allowed to tether, can't believe O2 are trying to charge three times as much.

Can't see what all the fuss is about. Non Iphone users don't get the luxury of an easy upgrade mid contract.

Exactly, I dont understand what the issue is? I cant upgrade my phone until 18 months are up, Im not complaining! Just the idiots that buy iphones needing to have the latest phone regardless of cost - muppets tbh

That said as Apple are on a 12month release schedule it would be good if O2 offered 12month contracts.

Eh? Most phone companies release new phones on a yearly basis, doesnt mean I have the right to upgrade straight away lol

Not sure where that's coming from, I didn't say anyone had the right!

My suggestion is that O2 could offer (more expensive) 12 month contracts in addition to their 24 and 18 month ones.

As O2 are taking p!ss with their upgrade
No they're not.. you signed up to a contract, and agreed to pay the fee for 18 months while O2 subsidised your iPhone 3G.

If poor old fanboy thinks it is suddenly unfair just because there is a "new" iPhone to be had, sucks to be you.

and tethering fees.
What do you expect? O2 pay monthly broadband costs the same price (when you're an existing O2 customer). Why do you expect them to give you a mobile broadband service for free?

People are so god damn foolish.

What a pathetic petition!

why should someone who already has an iphone be allowed to upgrade early to the new version? Do you see people who have 'normal' phones complaining when the new sony erricson cybershot comes out, or when the new blackberry is released

Get over it, you're in contract, if you want out then pay your termination fees!

This is completely ridiculous, why do Apple fans always think they are so special? None of us can upgrade to the latest Nokia when it comes out and we are in contract so what makes Apple fans think they are different?

New iPhone? *throw toys out pram*
This is disgusting, now my old iPhone is even older, I should be given a new iPhone for free because mine's not even really that old.
Apple/O2 are just like Hitler.

I'll show them! Once the new iPhone comes out, I'll whine some more, form the opinion that the old one doesn't work, then buy the new one for heaps of money!!!

This one can even take videos!!! And you'll get picture messages. Beat that, every phone with a camera made in the last few years... *cough*

Something like that anyway.
Think I might take the opportunity this year to pick up a dirt cheap 3G. Now that there's a replacement model, the 3G is just so uncool.

No idea its all a bit odd, i do agree with a petition on the tethering charges however a base rate of 500mb per month should be offered to all customers.
