**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Maybe Benzema on the cards now? I'd like to see Tevez go and get someone better. Now we won't have Ronaldo's goals we need a striker who can actually score regularly.

Losing the best player in the world who's implacable? No I'm not happy in the slightest

:/ Think it's been made more than clear recently that he isn't the best player in the world, it's been Iniesta these last few months, he didn't lose a game with Barca all season!

Myself I'm quite glad he's going. It's obvious he hasn't really wanted to be at Utd since failing to secure his move to Real last summer and his heart hasn't been in it.

Let him go to Real - Barca will probably still dominate La Liga next year anyway!

I'd like to see who we're gonna bring in now though.

Kinda regretting my first post in this thread now :D

Ah well, he's been good for us and it's a shame he wants to move at this age, but Real will still be rubbish anyway. We've lost good players before and recovered and we'll do it again.

Wayne Rooney, take point.

All this money being spent by Real, where are the defensive players?

I'm calling it now, they'll do sod all next season.

Good bloody riddance! Am so relieved to see Ronaldo finally go :)

For all his talent and footballing ability, he is such a cocky, annoying git. His attitude is fine when things are going his way, but when they dont he throws his silly little tantrums and disappears from the game. Certainly wont be missing his diving ability either.

Still £80mill is good business my Man Utd, hope he proves to be a huge flop over there!

As has been said earlier in the thread, we now do need a striker that will bang in the goals, unfortunately this means I don't think we'll see as much of Macheda/Manucho/Welbeck this coming season, as perhaps they havn't proven they can score a shedload yet.

if Utd lose Ronaldo and replace him with Tevez and Valencia aswell as paying off some debt I'll crack up. Its not like the league was won by a huge margin and while its not normal for a single player to be the difference in a game, he has done multiple times. The title could easily have gone a different way with a "normal" but very good winger only scoring 8-10 goals.

Yes for 80mil he's worth selling, but there quite literally isn't anyone to replace him, theirs maybe 2-3 players in the world that from the right wing will offer so many goals, and none of them are available unless utd are also willing to spend 80mil on a single player, which they aren't and shouldn't.

If they spent that whole 80mil on the squad, replace Giggs, Scholes, Tevez, VDS. They can't get in a single player that can do as much as Ronaldo, but improving 3 other area's while getting a pretty damn good winger in could bring the same overall quality to the squad. If they ***** a large chunk of that on Tevez the title will be incredibly hard next year, and will be down to playing berbatov properly or not.

Why won't Utd fans realise that 32mil(with the loan fee) for a 5 goal striker, while complaining they aren't happy with their 30million 10 goal 10 assist striker, is insane.

EDIT:- It also strikes me as being similar to many other deals, being pushed out by ungrateful fans rather than wanting to leave. EVERY player when asked if he wants to go somewhere else does the correct business thing, they say maybe in the future i'd love to, its called not closing doors and screwing yourself. What if UTD go bankrupt and stop being a football club in 3 years, he wants to go to Real, but he can't because he responded " no they suck , why would I ever want to go to Real with their stupid fans and a team that can't compete" .

By being the most successful player in the team, but not having quite as fantastic a year as last year all you've got all year is fans calling him inconsistant and saying they want to see the back of him because he's not good anymore. I'd leave after a year where fans are telling you to smeg off aswell.

UTd fans are also wetting themselves over 80million, Real are happy to pay it, £30-40mil for the player, £40mil for the brand. How much do you think Ronaldo brings to Utd in terms of image money, shirts sold worldwide, how often is he in the press, how often is he scoring how often do you win titles. A run to the final and winning the champs league, with the actual winnings, and tv money coming up to around 100million, I think its some 10mil + just for winning the final. What if you go out in the quarter finals next year, thats gonna be 25mil + lost straight away, not winning the title, you'll lose another 10mil, not being champions so ad money isn't "as" big, smaller shirt sales over the coming years. 80millions isn't huge money, for a player that makes the difference between winning and not, he could be worth a LOT more than 80million.

Drunkenmaster, part of your post is true.

I think if other areas of the squad are worked on, and we bring in some new younguns still, and a good right winger, then i'll be happy.

I do not want us to buy Tevez though, I believe he isn't worth the 25M being quoted, and especially the fact we've already paid 10M for a 2 year loan. I love Berba.
