**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Chelsea need a LB, and badly.

Beletti and Ivanovic can play right back if bosingwa gets injured but we have no cover for A.cole. Absolutely none. He could also do with some competition.

I don't think Chelsea really need to make any more signings. Saying that I'd be happy to see Aguero on board.

United have got a good price for Ronaldo. His heart isn't at the club anymore and they have sold him at the right time. As for the rest of the squad, Gilly and a few others sum up my views. There IS a core backbone but the rest are getting on a bit and need to be replaced.

Chelsea and Liverpool have a much stronger team on paper at the moment and although Ronaldo is one player, his skill does have an effect on the rest of the players.

isnt Malousa and Mikel are pretty average really - good squad players but nothing to boast about really

Carvalho wanted to leave under Hiddink, under Ancelotti it'll be a different story.

You argue Malouda and Mikel are average but then I can argue that

O' Shea
Anderson
Giggs
Park
Fletcher
Neville
Scholes

are ALL 'average'. Yes i realize Scholes, Giggs and Neville all used to be top draw.

Please don't give me the rubbish about Anderson being the next best thing, he's far from it.

The thing no one has picked up on is that Ronaldo is 24!!!

That's unbelievably young when you look at what he has achieved.

I'm certain he'll be a world class footballer for at least another 6/7 years.

For me, Real Madrid have got a bargain but there's nothing Sir Alex can do if he doesn't want to be there.

Those are all squad players practically - not the 1st XI you where talking about

Fletcher is far from average compared to the likes of Alex, Malouda and Mikel I can assure you, and probably the only player likely to be a definite starter if OH isnt fit

Anderson is a decent young player - he isnt meant to be the muscle in central midfield at all, thats why Fletcher was sorely missed in the Final

a midfield of Fletcher Carrick and Anderson would cope with majority of last years EPL teams wihtout much of an issue, but Utd need players either side of Rooney to make the midfield workable

I appreciated I'm biased as a Chelsea fan but I don't think Liverpool have a stronger team than United on paper, whereas imo Chelsea do.

Reina

Arbeloa *
Carragher
Agger/Skrtel*
Aurelio*

Kuyt*
Gerrard
Mascherano
Alonso
Riera*

Torres

Although they are ALL great players, for me there are 5 good players (*), whereas the rest are exceptional.

Agree with most of your argument but Fletcher is not that superior to mikel (22) There's a reason why United wanted him ;)

People heavily underrate Mikel and although Anderson has potential he is still imo, highly overrated.

Realistically who are United likely to get? I'm pretty sure I read somewhere Ribery won't come to United and Benzema is unlikely to leave France any time soon

all this utd team is average now one player has left talk make me laugh, UTD just won the prem title for the 3rd time in a row, went two years without losing a game in the champions league, SAF knows what he's doing.

and all this 'on paper talk is chuff' what does it matter.... fergie is a winner and gets a winning team.

I think that the one thing that we're all missing out on in these debates is the manager. I honestly (and this isn't just me talking as a Liverpool fan) believe that Ancelotti (sp?) will take time to adapt to the premiership after being so successful in Italy, just as Rafa did. Ferguson, frankly, provides a masterclass more often than not in the PL; he's not infallible, but he knows what he is doing when it comes to tactics, particularly against "lowly" opponents more than Benitez and Ancelloti.

For me, Man Utd will still win the league next season, with Liverpool second and Chelsea third. IF they give Ancelloti time (which, I have to say, would be a surprise given Abramovich's record) I would expect them to gain on Utd in the next couple of years.

EDIT: It appears that Jimlad has just made my point in far fewer words!

You won the league by 4 points.

Without Ronaldo you wouldn't have won it.

United without Ronaldo at the start of the season were 3rd best.

Chelsea never even had a sniff of winning the league last season, at worse with Ronaldo gone we're second favourites for the league behind a Liverpool team who may have had simply one good season like Arsenal did the year before

Do you realise just how stupid you sound?

You can certainly tell from that who you support and who you dont

You calling me stupid is just as biased as me saying Mikel is underrated.... my comments are stupid because you don't agree. kklolz

A Manchester United fan disapproves of my opinion on Anderson. Shock horror :o

Do you not realise that I could say the exact same to you? That Anderson is underrated outside of UTD and Mikel is overrated?

And the fact you still went ahead and posted it is why it's stupid

Exactly my point, it's called bias, not stupidity.

Another way to look at is is 'opinion'. You know? The point of online forums, debate and discussion.

at points this season and more so last, Ronaldo was practically our 1 man team. we'd be creating nothing, doing not much in particular, then ronny picks up the ball and goes off o one and scores a corker.

fact.

now he's gone we can start getting a team based startegy together, instead of relying upon the ROoney/Ronaldo combo to win us all of our games.

This involves buying quality wingers, not playing Park ont he wing simply because he can run. Involves balance on both flanks and on both wing backs...why have an attacking wingback on one side and a plank on another (Evra vs Oshea).

why did we play our winger up front on his own!!?! he cant win everything by himself!
