Microsoft unbundles IE from Windows 7 for Europe

Craziness. Why should Microsoft be barred from bundling their web browser with their OS? Who cares if they have 90% market share or something, it's not like they're stopping you from downloading and using a different browser, unlike Apple with their iPhones/iPods. Yet another reason to leave the EU and scrap this legislation that obviously can't be used responsibly; the whole point of anti-competition laws were to make things better for the consumer, and this does the opposite. Woohoo, I now have to use a spare computer/go to a neighbour's house/go to work to download a web browser to use with my shiny new OS which for some reason didn't come with one.

so for arguments sake if i didnt have another pc and a usb stick how the flock would i get the internet on my new pc that i intalled win7 reatail on??????

That's ridiculous. It seems like it's one rule for MS, and freedom for everyone else. As someone already said, Apple get away with far worse application bundling than MS, and yet evidently nothing is done about that. MS aren't forcing anyone to use anything, it's perfectly easy to install another browser, media player, email client etc; there's nothing in place to make that difficult or awkward.

well you going to have to install it if your a new user or how do you get on the internet.
being a new user your not going to know about FireFox and not have it on a disc etc.
so to me its a waste of time them making Microsoft take it off

OEMs will include Firefox. :D
bet they wont lol not unless they want to upset MS lol

the EU is corrupt and full of wasters

Does anyone have an answer for this?

Possibly FTP into a public server that has the installation file on it. Thats as far as I can think. Windows could do with an apt-get command like in some Linux distros. Also, Windows could do with a sudo command but thats going off topic.

Score -1 for consumers, by all means have the ability to uninstall IE but there is no reason why it shouldnt be bundled. If people are that bothered about using a different browser they will download one anyway.

Ubuntu comes with Firefox and and Mac comes with Safari. I cant believe the EU didnt discuss this and decide that their conclusion makes no sense!
