Civics

good choise mate, civics are stunning i love mine even though its only a 1.4

even though fox is so anti honda he is right about the insurance, its stupid prices but it worth it in my books :)

hi mate ive got quotes at 21 on the 1.6i and 1.8i versions around 150/160 bhp at 500 quid. So not to expensive but im lucky as my postcode is A risk.

Errr hang on a sec.

They are all 1992-1995 cars, they cost a few hundred quid, if you want one just buy one now, doubt there will be any left in 3 years time. The way this thread is worded it was as if you were planning the purchase of an R34 Skyline or something :p

To reply to this part too, the latest they do the civic i like is 00 if not 01, so your already wrong

that would be the EJ-Ek series then dude 95-01, the 1 you posted in the picture is a EG9 which ended in 95 :)

i wouldn't get a EG coupe though you would be a lot better off with the hatchback as they look a load nicer imo, unless you can find one whats been tastefully modified but no to much over top :)

Civic are silly expensive to insure aswell, like most Hondas

The jap built ones are stupid insurance groups. I went from a Jap built 1.4 GL to a uk built 1.4, dropped from group 14 to group 5 or 6. Either way i went from 3rd party to fully comp with no extra charge.

Perhaps have a look at 5th gen preludes if you want a Honda of that Era (97-01)
Civics big brother, just make sure you get a manual and 2.2 vtec. (Not the auto, or the 2.0 manual)

Is there such thing as a nice Civic that isnt a Type-R? Not sure there is, really. The regular models are just cheap nasty plastic hatchbacks with ridiculous insurance premiums and bizarre popularity amongst chavs.

There are better cars out there.

Ouch! Supercheapshot.com :p

I have a friend who is utterly obsessed with his civic. He's spent an absolute fortune on a new exhaust which sounds idiotic, suspension, couple of body mods. While it admitedly does look nice I just don't understand how he can justify spending £4k or so on a Civic + mods at age 17. He doesn't go out and do social things because he spends all his money on his car.

He's obsessed with "JDM" and it does my nut in.

The worst thing is he plans to keep it for like 7 years and do an engine swap... What is it with people wanting to do engine swaps on their first cars? Buy something better...

Your friend probably doesn't "get" Mini's (unless they're Honda B16 powered ofc). Don't let it annoy you:p

Been there done that. (EG's, EJ's, EK's, you name it).

Now i'm looking for a 330ci sport and to be honest i could never imagine going back to the low quality of those old hondas. Don't get me wrong, it was all good and fun, buying new parts every week and tuning the cars but i now realise to everyone else they were just 10 year old cars that make loads of noise and mean that they can't sit in my backseats or i won't get over a speedbump.

I'm looking forward to a more refined powerful car.

I've still not grown out of that phase and i'm nearly 6 years older than you:( My next car may end up being a B18C'd EG6:o
