[Shameless pimpage] Not bad for a 25-year-old.......

always liked mk2... and that one is really nice ;P no other wheels would suit that car as much as these do.. :)

Yeah I'm aware of the legalaties. Police round here don't seem arsed by it though :shrugs:

In case others are wondering about the legality of them, anything first registerd before Jan 1st 1973, can legally wear black and silver number plates.

Otherwise fantastic looking car I have always had a huge soft spot for them.

i dont like the alloys on your golf at all. but other than that i've always been a fan of big bumper mk2s :]

Just wondering if its had new panels, respray etc.

Ahh sorry, to my knowledge it hasn't had any new panels, and I have a box of receipts and history. The only bodywork receipts are for the tailgate smoothing etc, but no mention of a full respray. Like I said though I think it was probably 'blown over' at some point, it just doesn't look like 20+ year old paint.

hmmm.... I'm not liking the lights/grill and them wheels are fugly, but a modern classic. Whats it like as a runner? I'm considering doing a golf or a 205 as a project/money pit for weekend fun.

It runs fantastically, starts first time every time and hasn't missed a beat in the 6+ months I've owned it so far. Actually, tell a lie, it had a sticky starter solenoid that cost me a whole £14 to fix :D

What are one's like that going for these days?

Mk2 GTi's in general range from £200 for a ropey early one to around £1500-£2000+ for a late mint unmolested 16v.

I paid £1100 for mine about 7-months ago, and I'd say it would probably still go for that now.
