Terminator salvation first reviews (OMG SPOILERS)

Franchise?

You see that's a point that's been niggling at me for a while, you had Terminator 1 then several years later you had Terminator 2 which had the exact same story line as Terminator 1 except that this time good guy was sent back to save John Conner instead of his Mum (who was only saved in the first film so she could go ahead and drop little John)

Then came Terminator 3 which only real good point was the ending and world more or less coming to an end and setting up the premise for hopefully a completely different Terminator film next time.

So this Franchise is made up of 2 films that are more or less identical to one another, a crappy third and this new one which judging by the people who didn't enjoy it was hoping for another good guy sent back from the future to save Conner or one of his relatives thang

Of course it was a brainless action film it carried on where 1 2 and 3 all left off

lol u haven't a clue what the terminator franchise did for movies and gaming do you?

T2 - 'The film's visual effects include many breakthroughs in computer-generated effects, marking the first use of natural human motion for a CG character and the first computer-generated main character.' - wiki

revolutionsied CGI in cinema and games. without T2 and James Camerons innovation on adapting CGI to action scenes we'd be well behind where we are now with CGI.

Franchise - terminator has games, movies, comics, tv shows, toys, models, books, posters, binders, pencils, and every other type of merchandise going. sounds like a franchise to me...

saying t1 and t2 are the same movie is also absurd.

Ok ive watched this twice now (2nd time dragged by the misses!!!) and i agree with what most people are saying here really not happy! grew up watching the first 2 and loving them the 3rd one i can forgive as it wasn't terrible!

But.... come on massive nuclear war killed 90% of the world and not any radiation, no fallout i mean its only 14 years there has to be some kinnda result from massive nuclear war!!! thought it would be something like fallout 3!!

tbh i could write a list of bad things about the movie but that one main point that they missed kinda started it for me!

I saw this at the weekend.

It was watchable and exciting at points, but I just wasn't convinced with how easy it was for the resistance to win that 'round' of the war. The Terminators just were not as frightening, but I guess that's inevitable if they are all over the place.

I was expecting the 'world of death' we saw at the start of T2. Dark and almost Warhammer 4,000-esque. I can't really complain that it wasn't 'as I expected' exactly, but I was disappointed with how many chances the 'ruthless' Skynet gave Connor to escape etc. I guess the 12a rating did limit how much on screen ruthlessness there could be.

3/5 - Watchable

As is using Wikipedia to argue your point

But it's true? It had the first fight scene including a computer generated character and a real actor and it is the first film to feature a partially CG character. Just because it's wiki doesn't make the statements absurd.

Both of these things are commonplace in todays films so i would rate them as ground breaking moments for cinema

I've been schooled on this before. If Wiki has properly sourced and legit - Wiki is a valid point of reference.

Sod the pair of you :p

I just saw this film and thought it was okay. It's more of a case of the right ideas, but terrible execution.

I quite liked the Kyle Resse character though as it has been slightly changed (i.e. his past and the whole prisoner camp thing, if you read up on his background) due to the events in the previous films to establish that time paradox connection, but in the end, he will still become that same important person in the Terminator world.

What I really love about Terminator films when you put them together and see the main story and bar a few plot holes, it's that no matter what, Judgement Day and the war with the machines/Skynet is inevitable and HAS to happen, all because of the Kyle Resse and John Conner connection.

I thought it had its moments, it was lacking all over the place though... and I really missed the humour of the other films (not including T3.. just no).

It'll be interesting to see how the next films will pan out.

Nor do I

Seriously different people like different films, you make out that the Watchmen was this revolutionary epic and while that may be your opinion I personally thought it was crap.

Different people like different things live with it ;)

This. It's like some people are trying to force their opinion on others :o.

It was ok, bit random, like when the motorbike robot bounces of cars and his the flying thing, what are the odds of that happening...

Sam Worthington does what Heath Ledger did in Dark Night. Simply amazing

The ending was shocking, ARE YOU EVEN SAME BLOOD GROUP???

EDIT: John Connor some how became the bad guy :S

pretty disappointing for me I'm afraid. I wish moviemakers would drop this move towards making everything possible a certificate 12 or lower.

It's ridiculous. Hollywood is only intrested in selling toys and happy meals instead of trying to create a good film.

With this been the lowest grossing Terminator in the franchise, maybe they will realise now, not to p*** off their core audience that made the franchise originally what it was.

Terminators even though they have their arms and legs blown/snapped off they'll still try and complete their mission. I didnt feel like there was any of that in Salvation. Apart from the robot torso jumping up at Connor at the beginning.

That bit was great I thought, one of the few 'scary' parts of the film.

Overall I thought it was decent, certainly a big step up from T3 which was overly cheesy in places. The times they chose to slot in lines like "Come with me if you wanna live!" and "I'll be back" seemed reasonable. Didn't like the 'fluke' stunts where aircraft got taken out by random things flying up in the air though or dead terminators miniguns spinning round.

One problem with Michael Ironside's character was he just reminded me of C&C3 (a computer game he's in) too much! :)

Roughly speaking I'd say it is on a par with the Sarah Connor Chronicles.

I bet your a 40 year old virgin who downloads all these films and then posts on the internet thinking hes some kind of gramatical superstar commenting on "poor" CGI and directors..

to be honest, the film is better then you could have ever imagined..

It was brilliant, it really was.

Fact.

It is clearly not a fact, its an average film at best. T2 is brilliant, this doesn't come close to it.

I had high expectations for this film, and it was nothing like I imagined!
