Mass Effect

Damn -- paid £30 and haven't even installed it because something else 'grabbed me' .. :(

I'm a only-ever-1-game-madly-addictively-at-a-time kinda guy!

It is awesome. Some little bugs and annoying elevator rides, but it was one of my favourite games when it came out. Unfortunately I have overplayed it and cant get back into it yet at this time.

Shame it can't be registered on Steam. I'd definitely go for it then :)

I'm starting to find it annoying to have to use anything other than Steam for loading my games. No doubt Valve would be happy to hear that...

Mixed opinions? Pah! It's an excellent game! One of the best i've played in the PC in a long time (and there's been some good ones). Lots of effort went into the port too, the combat system was completely overhauled to better suit a mouse + keyboard layout and the team mate AI was apparently sorted out.

Definitely worth £5...

Brilliant game, shame i couldn't play through it a 2nd time without getting bored, there's such a huge difference between possible player classes...

Great game, just finished it this week

one thing..

Where do I get the Prothean key to open the spherical artefact thing?

You have to have done the optional mission in the citadel with that asari escort chick. If you do the good options she gives you the key. It's not that significant though so don't worry if you missed it.

asda have got some good deals going on O.o First Star Ocean for £25 on the 360 now this for £5. Buy it you fool!. Best video game bargain you'll have all year i bet.

Is there any worth while mods on this yet? I am right at the start on the PC version, but got really far on the 360 version, so wondered if there was mods, or is the game not "mod friendly?"

I think the made the mistake of doing everything (including going from extreme goody two shoes to a right *******!) the first time round, so the second play through became a little stale.

Although a did enjoy the game play contrast between a sniper user and shotgun user!

Mass Effect is worth a play. As for the PC version vs 360, there aren't any mods but you can tweak the config files and use the console commands. DLC is free on the PC and it has a better squad control hud.

Its not a bad game, a few bugs and the main story is a bit short, even tho its good - and the side stuff doesn't really make that much odds once you've done the main story.

I'm on my 3rd play through atm tho not playing it that much.

Its a brilliant game. The only thing which annoyed me was the fact that your couldn't seem to fully turn off mouse acceleration when in the 3rd person view. Even if you configured your mouse driver to turn it off at hardware level them game still put it back on. The best you could do was to turn down sensitivty and mess about with a vew config variables. Bishock was the same to a degree, both these games show their console roots.
