It is political, but I don't hear the Legion complaining when other parties' politicians do it. Just the BNP. The 'open letter' is highly political and a typical misrepresentation of BNP policies.
I had thought that most other politicians only wore them for a day or two per year on or around Rememberance Day (usually) rather than for longer periods as with Mr Griffin who appears to be wearing his constantly at the moment?
I've just read the Stormfront thread you linked to, the only poster I'm even close to agreeing with on this topic is Another Day, it's unsightly for politicians (any of them) to be trying to make political capital from such a matter. If The British Legion asks Mr Griffin not to wear the poppy or perhaps more appropriately not to wear it outwith the traditional Rememberance period then I'd think more of him if he were to respect that - although in the interests of fairness if the objection is against Mr Griffin wearing it even during the correct period then to remain avowedly apolitical TBL should request that no politician wears it.
