Bah you pesky black-themers - trying to foil my dastardly plan!

Its got a Visa sign on it but Ive been told by the bank its a debit card, not a credit card, in the past

ps3ud0

Watch out for Badgers - nasty buggers!!!

And that is the banks problem how?

The transaction was legitimate and therefore the bank will not care.

Whats the difference then between him using a debit card or a credit card ?

either way the bank is at a loss. The transaction was fraudulant end of story. The bank should care because it is there to protect peoples money not just say owell you used the card knowingly.

I mean if i stole your debit card and used it to buy aload of T.Vs and PS3's then slipped it back to you without knowing. Your telling me that owell the transaction was legitimate the bank wont care. After all how is it the banks problem your card got stole.....

Chirst sake some people are just full of themselves

Christ sake some people don't understand simple concepts.

With a credit card : the credit card company pays the merchant. You then pay the credit card company. If the merchandise never arrives, the credit card company refund you and they take up the chase (they are the ones who have been ripped off as such, as they paid the merchant).

With a debit card : the money comes from your account and goes to the merchant. The bank isn't "at a loss". You are.

If your card is stolen, it is being used by someone else - quite clearly a totally different situation than the legitimate user using their own card willingly.

Using a debit card and using cash are very similar. If he bought a box of PS3s down the pub with cash, and they turned out to be empty boxes, the bank wouldn't refund you the cash, would they?

How can you be confused? Are you honestly saying you don't know if it's a credit card or not? :/
Its like this:

Supposedly its sometimes a credit card or not dependent on bank - mine says its a debit...

ps3ud0

Drexel scares me! - think Ive gone as far as I can with this - shop me in, Ill be good

The banks are meant to be there to protect your money though incase things like this happen or at least my bank does and has.

I bought something off ebay using my debit card that turnt out to be a scam. I called my bank with 5 working days I got my money back. That cannot just be shear blind luck.

meh think as you will. I guess some people just presume to know something and as such will never ask when things do go wrong.

There is a lot of difference.

Indeed there is.

If you guarantee a transaction on your debit card there is nothing the bank will do as you have said this you want to pay this money.

When your card is stolen and used your bank will refund you your money, but they are taking a loss.

How did you pay via debit card on eBay anyway?

Sorry, I'm afraid I don't believe that you got a refund from your bank via a debit card transaction. The bank are not obliged to do anything, and doing so would set a precedent which they wouldn't want.

Did you paid for it with the Paypal? They should offer you the protection even if you used debit card for paypal.

Fools and their money are easily parted. :p

ebay + very cheap goods always = scam.

I hope all of you who paid get it sorted in the end but a little more caution would go a long way to preventing this from happening again.
