1p/2p's in a 4.5ltr Bells Bottle.

I think Gilly also had a big bottle like this, which also broke, though he decided he would like to see what head-butting it at 3am would be like and what sort of response his local A&E would give at that time! :) Silly Boy!

Almost accurate, I never bothered with A&E :o

Hello everyone: just to let you know that yesterday I finally filled up my bottle -

I literally couldn't fit anymore coins in it; they were starting to spill out onto the floor :p

In total there was £51.89 in mixed copper. Now I've got the task of getting them down to the bank...

The hassle you're going through to change them, you may as well sling it in the supermarket "Coin-star" machines and except the 8% rape charge.

Guess: £103.65

My mates mam filled one with silver and copper and had £300!

Im going to get one of those boxes that the only way you can get inside is to smash it and ram it full of notes soon for a holiday. :D

What are they called?

Would like one of them :D

I've got one of these that is almost full with 1p/2p/5p/10p and the odd 20p and 50p. Didn't think there would be anywhere near £50 in there though, not sure why. Looks like I will have to get counting!

"Cash Cans" apparently, can make your own though.

The way I thought of doing it was just get a big metal pipe, cut a small hole for the cash and weld the ends shut.

Leave some space at one end, (pack it with a little bit of paper or wood or something) put a little mark on the end so you know which side you've done this so you can cut through and get your money without cutting through a few tenners.

Of course only economical if you have access to a welder and can use it. :p

no need for the bank , asda have coin machines that you can deposit any amount of copper into, it gives you a receipt to take to cashier who then gives you the cash.
Yup, but they take a %ge for the service of counting your coins. My local Sainsbury has such a machine which takes 8% IIRC (been a while since I used it).

This thread inspired me to have a look how much change has accumulated in my drawer. I always empty my pockets into it before chucking my clothes in the wash. This is like a months worth.

Also found was some PC thumb screws, a book of stamps, rechargeable batteries a crumpled up tenner and 1.2kg of pocket fluff.

Amateurs :p

Anything silver less than 50p is in there (5p, 10p, 20p) no copper, got a seperate bottle for that

personal mission to fill it then cash it in :)

Every so often, I take my accumulation of change down to Tesco and use it in to the self service checkouts. I think the people I hold up might think I'm a beggar \o/
