**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

He's ****. I've honestly never seen a keeper as lucky as he was when he was in their first team. He dropped every cross and fumbled every shot but somehow managed to get away with it every time.

I thought that was about Casillas at first.

Anyone know why Citeh have signed Stuart Taylor? Seem's like a bizarre signing. Or is he the new Casillas/Buffon? :p
As said, Hart is off on loan.

Makes sense to me. Hart has a ton of potential, but isn't really good enough for where City want to be, just yet. So they got Given in. But Hart obviously needs first team football to improve, hence the loan, and buying Taylor as cover. I can see Hart having maybe another season or two on loan after this too, it's going to be a tough balancing act for Hughes.

It must be a strange life being a perennial second-choice goalkeeper like Taylor. Nearly any outfield player can look forward to getting into the starting team through either their direct superior (or one in another position they can fill) getting injured/suspended, or the team having to be reshuffled due to fixture pile-up, and can then make a good claim for a more permanent role. Sub keepers rarely ever seem to get that chance. Come off the bench if the main keeper gets injured/sent off, maybe play a Carling Cup game, and then back to the bench for the very next game.

Taylor's played all of 12 games for Villa in four years, and probably won't play many more than that for City in the same time. Doesn't he have any ambition?

If you're a sub-par keeper but have the possibility of silverware and playing in front of proper crowds against proper opposition, or dropping a division earning less money but still getting nowhere, playing against tinpot sides, which would you choose?

No idea.

They have Heart, who they've just sent out on loan.

Don't really understand that little move by Manchester City.

You have a good keeper, and a good young keeper.
Why did they need to sign Taylor ?

Because Taylor will happily sit on the bench and has a lot of experience, meaning he can cover Given if he picks up an injury.

Joe Hart is young and needs to being playing consistently but is just not as good as Given.

Hopefully Hart will come back to city a better keeper who will eventually take over Given and challenge for England number one with alongside Foster.

Quite simple really ;)

I'd have kept him you see :)
I'd have played him more.

He'd get his fair share of games.

Yeah fair point actually. Better to play for a definite Premiership side than be a perennial Robbie Earnshaw (good for Championship sides, but not good enough for the Premiership).

Flippin' 'ell, all you had to do was look up about three posts.

They've got Given now though. Given is a better keeper than Hart.

Exactly.

That's why I think Beckford should stay at Leeds. He will get goals. He will get 100% backing from the fans (if he signs a new contract) and he will be the big fish in a small pond in League 1.

If he goes to the Championship he'll probably do OK. If he goes to the Premiership it'll be to a relegation contender that'll barely play him or will get relegated because he's not good enough. I doubt he can cut it above a good Championship side.

If only footballer players were sensible and realistic eh!

Very good move for Hart, he will get a lot of action at Birmingham. Experience of being in a dogfight next season aswell will be 2nd to none.

Hope Aguero moves to the PL, would love to see if he can cut it in this league. If only Liverpool had the money to buy him, Torres and Aguero up front = Dynamite!

Would be awesome if the refinancing of Liverpool just recently was to pay for Aguero over the next 5 years. You can see happening, especially with the whole Athletico connection and with Masch been at the club aswell.

I'm not so convinced Aguero will look like a £50m striker when he comes up against some tough Premier League defences :)

He's 21 tho. Played fantastic against Barca in the league games. Man U couldnt score against Barca remember and they had their FB's suspended.

That didn't have much to do with defenders/strikers though, the CL final was all about the midfielders. Man Utd were causing Barca's defence all kinds of problems up until the Eto'o goal.

He's only 21, that's fair, I do like him anyway and think he'll be world class one day, I just think he's been wildly over rated.

His club say he isnt for sale, and they have had no contact anyway.

I still see this being a very disappointing transfer window for United.

Sorry to ask but I don't want to look back over a 41 page thread for the answer.

Has Ronaldo actually completed his move to Madrid? I ask as it's gone very quiet after the bid was "accepted". Or are they trying to agree terms?

Thanks.

It's all arranged and sorted for him to be officially transfered at the end of the month. It'll be all done and dusted in about a week!

That won't stop us meeting his release clause (which I believe is around 50m) Although I'd be surprised if they didn't accept less. I'd rather see us go for Benzema though.

Point i was trying to make was he was heavily involved in the game and was causing threats throughout the pitch. I know it was'nt a final and all but the same can't be said for any of the Man U strikers. I remember watching the game in Feb/March was it and he was explosive, popping up everywhere and generally just been a total pest to the back line.
