Just a quick recommendation for a film called Fritt Vitt...translates to Cold Prey...think it's norwiegan. I watched this yesterday and it's the first horror film in a very long time where I actually cared about the characters and wanted them to survive. No doubt hollywood will be remaking this in the coming years.

Saw that a few years ago at the London Frightfest, and thought it was a pretty good slasher flick.

There's a sequel out now which picks up right at the end of the original, but haven't been able to get a copy yet.

Having just watched the second, I can highly recommend it. A few downsides, the cast are carbon copies of peeps from the first, with the exception of Janicke i didn't give a damn who survived.

If you really want to be left repulsed, watch Cannibal Holocaust.

I hasten to add that Cannibal Holocaust features some very unsettling scenes including a horrific rape scene and the butchering of live animals. I didn't enjoy it, but it's what you requested... a truly disturbing film.

Are you and me thinking of the same film here?
With the ramming of rocks up the vagoo?
The suposedly banned one?
This is a staple in our cheesy horror movie nights, along with i 'spit on your grave'.
There are multiple scenes where they have dubbed the voices over to make it clearer...but no point syncing it up ay ;) I think theres a bit where the girl is talking and can be heard screaming at the same time :D

EDIT: Watch 'black sheep!' lol, i love that film, its like brain dead. I know they are more comdey horror but i still demand you watch!

But no lame hollywood BS, on a french kick at the moment, the likes of Haute Tension (Switchblade Romance), Frontieres, Martyrs, Calvaire (The Ordeal)...would love more suggestions similar to these. Not just french lately though, also watched Rec, El Orfanato, Let The Right One In

Seems to me that the french have taken over from the japanese as the kings of contemporary horror. I'm more open to foreign horror, anything without the hollywood polished look does well in my book.

I've probably seen most of the american/british stuff you might suggest, but go ahead and try to surprise me anyway. I loved Eden Lake, The Children, Dying Breed, Drag Me To Hell, Plague Town, Last House On The Left (remake)

Suggestions i've had from friends are Inside, Anatomie, Sheitan, Devils Backbone, Antichrist.

Anyway, i've rambled enough, suggest away please :D

Salo, Martyrs, Begotten.

That's all you need.

Just watched it there now and was very impressed. The most solid slasher flick I've seen in a while now. How about that neck-breaker!?!?! :D

irreversible manages to be a really well done film though. unlike a lot of other films that try to do the same sort of thing . cant really describe the feeling your left with at the end. never experienced anything like it from a film

hes got a new film out in near future which looks to be even more of a mind****

If you can stomach the rape and murder of the girl in Cannibal Holocaust, and find the live animal slaughter bearable, fair enough, but I think it's extremely harrowing!

Black sheep is just a terrible, terrible film. Brain dead is far superior.

I was quite gutted we didnt get the eye gouging at the end, instead Janicke became a perfect axe thrower, that bit didn't sit well with me!
