Woah that is a pretty epic failure indeed. I've never seen that happen before. Oh and what turbo is he puting on it now? Its huuuUUUge. :eek:

Probably a T28 from a Nissan Pulsar .

T28... I know the garrett naming conventions have all changed, but I was under the impression the 'old' T28 is now called a GT2560, but you also get a GT280RS (GT2860) which this might be. I can see the .60 A/R printed on the turbo outlet, so i'll say its a disco potato? Still looks really big. Good for around 350bhp IIRC.

His new engine is a pretty impressive spec and he's mentioned the turbo before... it's definitely not a T28.

As has been mentioned, someone else. My housemate did a good job on his car though. Piece of piston missing aswell as a chunk out of the piston ring!

Thats just a graze. This S14 was closer to terminal. I shot this about ten years ago just after we pulled it out of a henna red M3. Result of end float failure on the crank.

I've seen it before. Talbot alpine back in 1986 on the motorway to london. Bang, smoke, chunk missing out the engine, conrod sticking out.

A friend on mine retired from a tarmac rally due to "electrical problems" in his Mk2 Escort. Con-rod escaped and knocked the alternator off

Because its a hobby, its fast, and he likes to do it? What do you drive?

Also if he's building an engine properly to accomodate that new turbo, try over £1200~ for the engine.
