The official Overlord 2 thread.

Its great so far, they seem to have really thought about all the extra things you can do with the game style, mounts for minions, controlling humans, levels for minions and the ability to resurrect them once they die, I’m guessing later on you will end up with an army of minions, creatures and humans following you round as I already have quite a few and I haven’t been playing long, no crashes and the graphics seem better than the first one.

I liked the first game but never bothered to complete it, and I can’t remember why to be honest.

Was gonna pick this up in town today for £25 but just paid £18 inc free delivery online. Won't be able to play over the weekend but £18 is a bargain!!! Why oh why can't Steam sell it for £20???? Bought Anno 1404 as well as that was £22 instead of £35 off Steam....

I know that Steam don't set the prices themselves before anyone chips in;)

I am assuming later on there is some sort of advanced spell ? the commentator talks about them like they should fight for you but they dont seem too do they

so much to play atm will wait for steam offer (yes i know zavvi is cheap but I am a bit ocd about having everything on steam)

also thread makes me sad for DK1. that + deeper dungeons expansion were part of the bundle of games i got with my first ever pc, spent so many hours on it

Seems it's more of the same with some small bits added in, like spells, lair, etc.

In this case, that's a good thing! Why break the Overlord formula, it worked well with the first game.

Enjoying this so far. :)

Pikmin for adults :)

I really enjoyed the 1st one, will download the demo to the second one.

I always thought it was Pikmin but not as good. If you're supposed to be evil, why (in the first one anyway) did he run round doing stuff for peasants etc? Evil for kiddies ;)

I've had a go on the demo, confusing though, seems all you do is go around with these evil looking things and control them and go kill cute animals and get some wolves and then kill some queer elves?

That basically all you do?

So whats everyone think of it? worth buying?
+1

i played the 1st one and liked it just didn't like the control's much so got a copy for my 360 and found it much better just need to get a wired pad for my pc before getting this if the controls are the same
for some reason the wireless adapter for the pc don't work for me

what exactly were you expecting, the ability to rewrite a few shakespearean sonnets? The answer to life, the universe and everything?

It's a game, you move around a bit, kill a few things then move on a bit and kill a few more things just like 95% of games out there. In Half-Life 2 you just ran around and shot policemen in masks in the head, didn't stop it getting 95% reviews everywhere did it?

The animation's nice, the graphics are nice, the controls are nice, it's pretty funny, what's not to like?

For the record, the first one had a storyline, presume this one has as well but as I've not yet received my copy, I can't say for sure.
;)

This game is tremendously buggy compared to the first. Minions getting stuck in walls, in crates, commands getting stuck.

The gameplay is good but i'm finding it frustrating because something unpredictable always happens at the worst time.

Anyone else encountered this?

Just get a cheaper charging kit for the wireless pad, it comes with a USB charging cable that enables you to use the pad over USB too.

I've only had a few bugs, one is the Jungle area, the keystone getting stuck on its pad and it refusing to be budged.

There's also a few dodgy textures around that let down the over all appearance. Luckily there's no too many of them though.

Most noticable is the rock formation you see as you get off the platform when going to the forgery.

I think my mouse is broken, which accounts for the commands getting stuck.

I'm still enjoying it though, even though I want to take those catapults the Empire have a ram them somewhere! :p

Spec in sig. E8400 is at 3.6GHz.

1600x1200 at high, and it runs smooth as can be. Only "slight" choppiness is when there's a lot going on, but it's barely noticable.

I'm very impressed with how it runs on modern hardware, hats off to Codemasters for that (even though they optimized well but let bugs slip through! ;)).
