Not going to divert the discussion into the rights and wrongs of these MP's owning the house, but if I had a house that was being 'renovated' and squatters moved in I would be ******.
In a statement on Monday they said: "It is our home and has been very special to us for a long time. We find it extremely upsetting to know that our house is occupied by squatters who appear to believe that they are entitled to do what they wish in our property."
Yep. And the owner can respond by issuing a court possession order, forcing the squatters to leave within 24 hours. Is there a problem here?
I find it odd that the law allows people to move into a property owned by someone else without their consent simply because it's unused.
Eugh forget it, arguing this with the "I hate the government" brigade is impossible.
I end by saying what I have already said, I hate squatters and abusing stupid laws because others do so is not the right way to go about making changes. If it does change anything, great, but the means do not justify the ends for me and I find what these people are doing is no better than what they are doing it to complain about.

I guess breaking such a trivial law is no worse than FRAUD ?![]()
I'd be asking why your house was being "renovated" for seven months.
But that's the beauty of it: the squatters aren't breaking any laws. They are acting perfectly within the law.
Look im not trying to say that what the mps have done is right, but more of the fact that squatters are quiet a peice of work.I'd be asking why your house was being "renovated" for seven months.
I also find it odd that a couple of overpaid ******** are allowed to have a taxpayer funded "second home" only 10 miles from their designated "main home".
Just because a house is empty for a period of time, does not give the right for anyone to just walk in and claim it as their own.
The owner of the property should be sought and then given a month to either put the property on the market, let it out or move back in. Whilst agree with the idea that housing is in short supply, I dont aggree with how squatters go about reclaiming empty property.
So if the persons involved go to the house, they won't have an issue with entering the property and completing the renovation work? That's right, and the squatters aren't claiming it as their own. They're simply living in it. Squatters cannot claim a property as their own unless they have lived in it consistently for at least twelve years without any interruption or eviction.

If thats the case then, I dont have a problem with what they are doing.

I'm surprised a lot of people are for this what happened to two wrongs don't make a right?
